They stood out. Successive goal assists when we needed to score badly. Berry got going and he will continue to improve.

Honestly didn’t see it with Berry.

He did a couple of nice things, but so many times it was a nearly play for him.

Awful first quarter turning the ball over almost every kick, then after that was just fumbly.

Berry was very decent after the first quarter. His positioning saved us multiple times and also helped set up goals. It was very much an unsung game.

Exactly as I predicted. Skittish and overwhelmed by the occasion on Easter Thursday but fell in. 15 minutes of brilliant footy won us the game, beyond that, in a finals like atmosphere, nervous, unconvincing footy.

Made life so difficult.

We are a 5-8 team ATM, good sides will beat us at the Gabba and at home, but we have some time to grow a pair and turn it around.

I know we all love ‘winning ugly’ (an excuse we have been running for 3 years now) around here, but winning ugly in regular season = losing finals and I fit one expect more from this group - so far, we haven’t seen any noticeable improvement in 2022.

Next week becomes interesting, GC won’t be, but should be faves, they will do us at home.

100% this.
Quite happy with giving this same team another week. Like others I'd like to see another mid rotation with Dev but he has yet to really dominate a couple reserve games and if he was to come in and just sit up forward I'd rather Lohman. We haven't used quite as many numbers through the middle the last few weeks so they'd have to be pretty confident Dev is going to get gametime in there. Either way Zorko takes Lohman's spot in the team when Kiddy is ready for me, happy for Zork's to play a roaming role through the backline but really not sold on him there full time.
He’s spent more time up forward in the reserves he has played. But being the medi sub, he hasn’t played much reserves either.

The question out of that I have is how good are the Pies?

If they are actually a top 8 squad, it's not a bad effort. Only challenged a couple of times after the first, but kept our heads and settled down and responded each time.

If they're not really finalists... ouch.
From their first four games I don’t think they are far off. As we have seen this season though, you don’t have to be far off your game to lose. Apart from a couple of teams it’s a very close season early on!

That is such a depressing outlook. Top four three years in a row. Started 4-1 and still have Hipwood to come in. Berry and Rayner are getting consistent game time and Bailey is getting better on the ball. We are nowhere near a 5-8 team.

All for him being in the team provided he's playing midfield for the majority of his minutes. Given his lack of midtime and gametime in the reserves as you've pointed out I'm not confident he would get that.

It’s been like this literally forever at the Gabba when they supposedly sell out. Now you’re blaming covid? Righto.

It's not like I've got a horse in the race, but if COVID is illegal to mention re: crowd numbers you've got your head in the sand - plenty of people aren't going to games because of it, just look at comments on this forum in the lead up to this game and you'd find several missing it because of a positive diagnosis or isolation or avoidance of crowds.

Really? Thought we were pretty well in control for most the game besides that 5 minute period we lost our heads with the umpiring.

If they had Mihocek running around out there I reckon we'd be 2 goals behind at full time.

What more would you expect!

Legit. It's to the point I'm deterred from posting after a win. All the while we've lost one game (by 10 points) against a team who have 89/101 wins at the ground we lost at.

If they had Mihocek running around out there I reckon we'd be 2 goals behind at full time.

If we had Hipwood out The Official I reckon we'd be 4 goals up at full time.

Am I doing it right? :s

Wins a win
Smashed in the centre again
Fwd pressure disappointing at times throughout the game. Kai’s tackling pressure was good but seemed off the pace of 4qtrs of afl.
Umpiring across the board so so poor for a big TV game.
Achee tackle was immense.
Worried about Zorkos injury. When kiddie is back zorks is out. I hope he can roll through mid fwd again.
Onwards to Q clash.

If Matt Nicholls was out there we'd have lost by eight goals.

Its my opinon but sure, be a dick about it if you want.

We beat them with our best team minus Hipwood while they were missing a few key players. Hell, we couldnt get over the line against an undermanned Geelong either. Room for improvement is all Im saying.

We made what should have been a routine win look difficult.
