All you can ask from Pitt is to run to the right positions, as an outside finisher you need him there to dish off to.

One thing I noticed with his kicks is that he's nursing his kicks, a little too much air on occasions.

If you are going to kick into the corridor you need to laser it, kick it high and wide to the wings sure, but in the middle you need to kick the ball with purpose.

To me, it looks like a third gamer finding his feet.

Willing to back him in against the doggies.

Out: Suban, Pitt, Palmer

In: Crichton, Anthony, Lower

Crichton is the obvious choice to come in he has been playing great in the WAFL and can fill a similar role to the three outs. Anthony in up forward we can move McPhee into midfield/flanker role. Palmer's disposal was horrible Lower would be a big upgrade in that area. Johnson is very lucky to hold his spot IMO would be a last chance scenario. I'm a fan of Silvagni but think he needs atleast a week in the WAFL.

Interesting point, in the sense that I see it as the exact opposite. I think Pitt tries too hard to spear every kick, and the result is often a weird grubbery looking abomination that skews off the side of the boot (this happened several times yesterday).

It's as if he's aware of his reputation as having precise disposal, and thusly tries too hard and when it doesn't come off he loses a bit of confidence and ****s the next kick up.

His ball winning ability, positioning and courage is impressive though. Many times today he put his rather frail body on the line and took the hit, he will definitely be a player.

I know what you are referring to, a few occasions from the being the first receiver at the point kick ins he tried to spot up targets over 50 metres with bullets, turned into instep floaters.

But through the middle, to Mayne and Mcphee, he gave the ball too much air and their opponents enough time to get a spoil in.

Will improve though.

Decision making looked fine to me.

You reckon handballing into the corridor in the defensive 50 (which led to Harvey's first goal) is good decision making? Or the kick to the North player (which led to a goal) is good decision making?

Or the handball straight to Tambling last week?

His handballs and kicks, even under zero pressure, are terrible. Nice action, but poor decisions. I think people are way too seduced by perfectly executed passes without actually looking at what they turn into.

To me, he is panicking. Nothing wrong with that in your first few games, but there's also nothing wrong with getting a run in the WAFL until you're more settled.

It's hard to know with the young guys whether they had a poor game in the coaches mind or not. Pitt would have a very different set of expectations, compared to his more senior teammates. I mean his game in isolation wasn't great, but for all we know he did every single thing that was expected of him. It's no different to Hill, Morabito, Fyfe and Co. when they first started playing.

I think the obvious change would be Crichton in for Suban. Not sure what to do after that though.

Aren't you forgetting about Lower? He has to come straight in for Suban.

Lower's certainly an option, probably the most likely candidate at this point in time, but Crichton must be looked at. Not sure how he went in the WAFL but he's been going well, he should be rewarded soon.

Horses For Courses

OUT:
Suban
Roberton

IN:
Lower
Anthony or Walters

Ibbo starts at half back in place of Robbo/Suban. Lower to midfield/half back role. I'd like Anthony to get a role amongst Mayne & Kep...I think another player that can actually take a mark inside 50 may be a good thing. Otherwise I think Walters should play as a sub....

Johnson won't be dropped, I'd only expect one change to be honest.

Suban: Out
Lower: In

Potentially Roberton out and Anthony in, I'd like this to happen but the coaches are going to want some stability.

Good to see someone mentioned Walters. He's got a bit of grit about him along with the hunger and passion imo.

Yep, most likely.

Going to be close tough game against the dogs - they have everything on the line this week - like norf's did but dog's are a class well above norf's. Hate to say this about a player but if we play MJ, that probably means we'll lose it - can't afford the cost of another 2-3 goals through lack of endeavour. Mistakes you accept if heading in the right direction, but lack of willingness/intensity, flipping never.

Anthony will chop it up when he breaks into our side. Our forward line delivery has been great and the dude is a deadeye. We have too many players in our team atm who provide nothing outside of defensive pressure, I'd look to drop Van Berlo and Mcphee. Mcphee is not a key forward, his marking is way too inconsistent and he is a poor set shot.

Pitt had 46% disposal efficiency and five clangers (equal most for Freo). It's the second week in a row he's had below 50% DE and he's the only Freo player to have done that.

I like the fact that we have become a side that uses the ball well. I think Pitt has a future, but if he serves up what he did today against a side like Footscray, we'll get cut to pieces.
No problem with Pitt having a few weeks in the WAFL and also using the clanger stats to back up the argument but the disposal efficiency stat is the most inaccurate and worst stat ever. A player can handball 2m each time to a player and create nothing but will still get a rating of 100%.

Lower should be back for this game for Suban and if Pitt does great dropped and think he will be rested against the Dogs bigger bodies then Crichton to come in or play Anthony up forward and bring McPhee up to tag in the midfield.

Clancee? I want Anthony in for Mcphee as well

Yeah I think you're wrong on all counts.

Yeah, Walters should be considered, Chrichton definitey should be given a game soon. Although I really like Roberton he probably needs a rest and could make way for someone else.

Harvey said after the game on Sunday that Silvagni is still a couple of weeks away..

I agree with Clay, Out: Suban and Pitt, In : Lower and Jesse.

Although Clancee must not be far away, he's been in the bests every week for the struggling Swans. Consistently racking it up and playing well.

Would love to see Pitt more throughout the year, but some of his turnovers were costly against the roos. Will be punished against the bullies. Remember hearing i think from Harbrow, that Eade would tell his players to really target and intimidate the younger players of the opposition.
