Game Day Round 6 - Dogs v Saints

I think too many people are buying in to the media crap about StKilda. We are deserved favourites and should win this one easily.
They're also conveniently forgetting how we demolished a likely finals team last time we played on this surface.
If we play the same way that led us to a 75-point lead against the Crows, even if St. Kilda play their best game of the year we should win.
Also, watching St. Kilda get smashed by the likes of Carlton and Collingwood - teams that I would say we're better than - makes me confident that we'll do the same.

The explanation I can think of is that they might be overestimating the emotional let-down from such a big win last week. To me it seems like it's gone the other way, so many people have gone on about emotional let-down or taken that into consideration that they've gone too much the other way and let that factor in too much.

Not sure why all the pessimism going on around here. Sure even if we dropped this game we would still be 4 - 2 and would come out seething against Fremantle next week. Sure I desperately want to smash the saints into oblivion today as much as anyone but if we dropped today's game it won't derail our season. We know we have the calibre of players and the gamestyle to threaten and beat any side on our day.

That being said when have the saints in the past 2 seasons played two really good games in a row. Don't think its happened and under pressure they turn the ball over more than anyone. Particularly with the brand of football they play they are going to be so up and down.

Yet this season we have played a brand of consistent football. Even against the Hawks and with the injuries we had I don't think that was a true reflection of the difference between the two teams. Also we polaxed the pies who (despite last night) have looked like a top 8 team.

5/6 times we have played great football. I expect the same today as well.

Yeah the good thing is that we are edgy on here, and I hope the players are too. If it not for the edginess I'd be even more edgy. :D

Our outs with their ins has made people less confident, but we are playing well and I haven't flown to the other side of the country to be disappointed!! Carn the Doggies!!

In his last ten matches Riewoldt has only managed to kick more than 3 goals once - against Freo that time when Ross Lyon decided to throw the game for reasons best known to himself.

So not that terrifying, and not getting any younger.

Check his last ten against

Bulldogs by 60 points.

Hey last time I predicted this while being stupid it was against the Crows, worth a shot :D

I'm more worried over this game than next weeks against Freo. The importance of this game is where we see how we fare coming off of a hard slog against a top team. If we win today, the media are going to paint us as finals contenders. On the flip side we'll get the usual pretender tag.

Don't like Hunter as sub at all. But I never like the sub..

You are so Bulldog mate - every game pessimistic! And what is going on with your avatar Igloo? Who is that and what is the significance?

Was listening to triple m and BT was saying the Dogs are just playing above themselves, surprisingly Lyon & Damo stuck up for us somewhat. Gazza even admitted being wrong about the quality of talent on the list.

Does that surprise you? IMO of the better and impartial commentators are Huddo and Sandy Roberts. BT, Lyon, Dunstall, Darcy etc have their heads too far up their arses to be anything but opinionated

To be fair, I think last week we did play above ourselves.

Say what you want about Lyon, but atleast he has the ability to say he's wrong when he is. Same with Barrett. Blokes like Lloyd could learn from that.

His an absolute flog (BT). I don't mind the boys on a Saturday, but hearing BT is just painful.

Lyon is very happy with the bulldogs so far. BT got shot down a fair bit

Even if we do win today, those guys BT, Lloyd etc will be lining up to sink the boots in before next weeks game.

At least we won't be favourites, I prefer us playing under the radar
