Assuming Goldstein plays next week, it will be his 300th so those boys will try to turn up
They play terrible footy right now. Lions scored on them like 40 points in 6 min. Cunnington looks and plays like 50 years old. Just awful display in 3rd quarter. It seems like North can play only 1-2 good quarters. Lucky, we can go for 3 quarters.

If we lose to them at home, it will be something else.

Looked like he had a hematoma on his forehead. Can you actually play with a hematoma?

North look terrible. We should beat them at Heritage. That's all I'll say.

North still scored 77 points. Can our defence stop them doing more damage than that? It’s been very leaky, to say the least… Their talls and smalls are solid enough if they get a chance.

But as always, IF we can kick straight we should win. North were very accurate.

Touk v LDU. Let’s see who finds peak form first.

Put someone physical and fast on Sheezel because he doesn’t love contest work (much like Daicos, tbh). Don’t give him space to run and set up plays and we then shutdown a lot to North’s movement.

Moyle (if he plays) has another monster task for a third tough week in the ruck. Really is a baptism of fire.

Anyway, don’t even know what I’m looking for or why I’m looking for it. I just want to have some fun at the football!

Have 0 confidence in us beating North next week. Yeah they are terrible but we are also terrible.
We're $1.45 favourites with the bookies right now. Think this is the first time the bookies have had us as favourites all season.

Do North look like favourites? They're on a three game losing streak and just got smacked by 75 points.
Their best looks a lot better than ours so far. Would you of called us favourites going into the game against Freo with how they were playing up to that point?
We play so ****ing bad that we bring teams into games at every opportunity.

I just re-watched the first half - a lot to like against supposedly top 4 team in a lot of people predictions just before season started. Put Witts in instead of Moyle and we won probably comfortably yesterday. Or just covert easy shots. Far from ****** bad. If someone was ****** bad in first half I would nominate Freo. We should be up by 40 at HT.

As for North I suggest to re-watch today's game. If I understood correctly, Lions broke all-time record in marks inside 50, 34 or something, most uncontested. And it's not like Lions played great. Never seen so many free players inside 50, it was like Lions were playing reserves after half time.

It does not mean North will not show up against us especially for 1-2 quarters, but I like our chances especially if Witts plays. If it's still Moyle, Goldstein is not Darcy at this stage of his career. With some extra days Moyle should be able to compete in the middle.

We were the underdogs against Freo according to the bookies. I saw it as a 50/50 and the game kind of played out that way with big momentum swings.

The problem for North is it seems like they are only capable of playing like the for a quarter (maybe 1.5 quarters) and then they really drop away when the heat is applied. We've shown we can play pretty good footy for three quarters, particularly against lower opposition. So would you rather really strong footy for one quarter with three quarters of collapsing or solid footy for three quarters and one quarter of poor footy? That's sort of the way I'm looking at it right now and that probably justifies why we're the favourites with the bookies.

I understand that it's hard to feel good about our prospects right now but North are very poor and this is on our home deck where we are 1-1 this season. I think the main key for us will be getting Witts back. If Witta plays then that's going to go a long way to helping us win this game.

Once again another bitterly disappointing result.
Watched the game with my two grandsons 10 and 13 years of age both supporters and members since they could walk.
Even they could see we were going to lose 10 minutes into the last quarter.
POSITIVES (again not many)
Good first half should have been furher in front ( same old story)
Lukosius starting to show the talent he was born with (except kicking for goal)
Swallow - our best and only dangerous forward by a mile.
MacPherson - Made a couple of blues but played his heart out.

NEGATIVES
Andrew not physically ready for Seniors yet,
Long - not sure what he offers ( another poor List managers choice)
King and Chol - Huge disappointments -both have the talent but neither have the inclination to compete on a
regular basis.
Chol lots of natural talent but lacks workrate and fitness to be a consistent player at this level unless he changes his mindset.
King yes returning from serious injury gets a little leeway .Totally void of any confidence or form since the start of season.
But no reason for not competing in so many contests.
In his last 16 AFL games has scored a miserly 22 goals and laid 4 tackles. We need more from him.
Why he hasnt been moved up the field or tried at CHB in this period is baffling.
Most concerning to me is the lack of form of so many players Ballard Ainsworth Chol KIng Collins Jeffery Davies Holland etc
Coaches - the total reliance of just three players (two of them still kids) to do all the heavy lifting in the midfield is killing us
late in games. Not surprised to see Brodie be a key in Freos comeback .
Like most supporters am frustrated that we dont appear to be moving forward at all.
For me personally just would like to see my grandsons (and all the true supporters) get the feeling that the Suns are on the improve
rather than stuck in mud and moving no where.
Have a good week all .

Hard to disagree with most points.

As for King, yes, he is not in his best, but he scored every game (7 goals in 5 games). He is hardly our issue, especially depending on deliveries. Had he not dropped all those uncosted marks against Cats he would be probably averaging 2 goals per game. Moving him to CHB is not agood idea, IMO, as was discussed already.

Just on Macpherson. I thought about it and while I loved his attitude, aggressive offensive mindset and he did a lot of good things I can't see him as positive due to his bad mistakes costing us multiple goals.

As for midfield, I did not watch 2nd half yet but in the first half Swallow and especially Fiorini spent significant time in the middle so not only 3. But I agree, I would also like to see more players go through there and take more risks/mix it up when Darcy/Jackson got on top. We were not able to stem the flow and players got tight, were afraid to take risk, were just responsive.

In worse case scenario we get a new coach. He will inherit a very good list, IMO. Some tweaks probably needed but definitely no re-build required. Also, once the team gets on a roll suddenly all players look better. Confidence is a miracle cure. You can see it all the time, e.g., Collingwood, Saints this year, Crows last 2 games and so on.

Let's see how we go next. I am actually looking forward to it. We are in a hole, backs against wall. Let's see what players, team, coaches, club are made of. We did recover last year after poor start. If we don't respond changes will be made. I will be disappointed but it's not the end of the world. I believe, most pieces are there.

Interesting. Checking North thread and after just awful 2nd half against Lions it seems North fans are afraid that they will receive another shellacking from us. I am not used to this. Something is not right.

We don't want to lose this one. Let's pray to God that Witts is back and players stay connected:p Maybe we should move the game to Darwin.

Interestingly enough, North were 26 years 2 months old and had 110 games experience against Lions. Against Freo we were 25 years 0 months and 88 games.

Goldstein doing a lot of the heavy lifting there….

Think atkins is worth one more shot. He is in far better shape physically than his previous years at the club. His composure with the ball may be helpful. One last shot and if it doesn't work out banish him to the reserves for the remainder of his contract.

Yep another 400k per year for another 2 years of nothing sounds great

If Ben King was ever going to get a prime opportunity to have a good game after his injury then this is the one. North had absolutely no answer for Brisbane's tall timber yesterday with Daniher, Hipwood and even Fort taking i50 marks with ease and kicking bags of goals. It seemed like North never really doubled team any of the talls either. Plus, it's on our home deck so there should be a greater level of comfort for Kingy.

I feel like this is going to be the one for King. The boys should be able to get it to him if we use the overlap correctly and the Roos are going to be focusing heavily on Lukosius which should limit their double teaming opportunities. Having said all that, Kingy needs to move more if he wants to get those opportunities. I know he's probably still playing cautiously because of the injury but he's got to lead harder if he wants to get more involved in the game.
