Always liked Mowman I was in a bad space last year and regret agitating you and others. Much better experience for me on here without all of that, plus RTB strutting down the race with his CC's every week after a big win helps. We've been spoilt. Beaten flogs like the Dogs, Blues, Bombers all within a month of one another? Go easy on my beating heart, cuddly Ross 😍
Who would have thought the coach you didn’t want back was enough to bring you back to the light side.

Had a 10.page back and forth about coaching appointment 'process' with phantom13 when Ross was going to be appointed.
While I appreciated the point, I am glad Basset said f*ck it let's get Ross.

My old memory is fading, did we play like this with Ross 1.0? Feels like we are much more dynamic, or is just because I am just starved of consistent form by the team?

Yeah I thought admin were removing the ban earlier but it expires tomorrow at 10pm.

I just had my doubts about his ability to adapt and delegate. Back then I said that the doubts I have about Ross wouldn't really be answered until I saw us play, and I needed a good enough sample size to form an opinion on if he'd been able to do the things I was concerned about. 6 games is enough for me. I was actually sold after we beat Essendon but to back it up against Collingwood and again yesterday is more than I needed to see to realise that yes he's been able to adapt and yes he is delegating, the fact that he makes a point of celebrating the assistants really stands out to me.

I've always loved Ross, he's given me the best years of my life supporting the Saints, and growing up playing footy as a key defender I really value the defensive aspect of the game so loved how ruthless we were defensively in his first stint at the club and I love it now. I love the fact that opposition supporters and media may think we're dour and boring but I love our ability to break a sides will with our defense, and then run them into the ground with our explosive rebound game. It's heavy metal stuff.

Some may disagree but I also think the gameplan we have now is better than what we had in 09/10. We are not only elite defensively, but we fire out from half back and play a really up-tempo game. Injury to our forwards is the only reason why we aren't kicking 15-20 goals a game IMO. It's as if RTB has taken aspects of how we played under GT and aspects of how we played under him the first time, and moulded them together. The mix of offense and defense is perfect right now.

You be the judge.

The attacking part of the game is much better this time I think

Yes but on the other thread after 6 rounds the team were over a hundred points in 2009 ahead of 2023.
Considering we have had the reserves in, I would say the 2009 team a one goal better team, points against almost identical. That team had Roo, Kosi, Milne and Schneider in the forward line.

Can't wait to see King in this forward line. Will be a nightmare one on one as it comes in. If he gets half the frees Curnow gets, he will have 70 by years end.

Edit: After 6 2009 were a 4 goal better team. With our best forward line, probably a two goal better team. 2009 top 6 far better than 2023. 2023 bottom six far better than 2009.

Very different.
2009 was amazing though. Balls to the wall pressure.
This is much more structured. Much, much more structured. Defensively no way near as heavy.
Weight of numbers and executed game plan.

Thing is... It is definitely a work in progress and should improve.

Jeez having a read of the Port board, they are incredibly pessimistic. I’m struggling to get past how much they have dominated us over the past decade. They are gonna have to do some weird shit with all their injuries, which also makes me nervous. This game has potential banana peel vibes for me. I’d take any sort of win, smash Nth the following week.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Ratts had no idea.

Just to link back to some of the things I shared in the last few years. I don’t think Ratten knew how to turn his ideas into actions that the boys could buy in to or understand why they were being asked to do it.

For example, I know that the 3 peat hawks were all into practically running their own pre seasons outside of the main sessions. The likes of Hodgey knew how much running they needed to do to be afl fit etc

A young list who has never tasted success wasn’t the right list or time to empower them with something like that. They needed integrity at selection to ensure effort was always high - which we didn’t do. They needed everyone buying in doing the same work - which didn’t happen.
Opening myself up to be corrected here because I'm gonna use my memory but aside from taking a taller defender I don't believe Cordy has done much else for the "play tall" role.

Very simplistic look if your only judging Cordy on output.

He takes a tall defender - which impacts the next contest. He brings the ball to ground which brings the smalls into it.

He crashes packs. He lays tackles and throws his weight around.

The success thus far is built on the collective effort. Not just the parts that kick all the goals or get all the touches.
Ross has been speaking very highly of cordy. Not just on one occasion or in regards to one subject or role either.

I suspect cordy is structurally and systematically doing all the things Ross wants. He's stopping taller defenders from peeling off. He's also making contests and bringing the ball to ground. He's blocking. Off field He's mentioned how he's mentoring the others.

It's a very hard role.

We're winning games, but if we look for any systemic issues, the biggest weakness we have had in the last two games, has been the midfield, and that's where we need to strengthen it up as a unit.

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, although I was hoping someone could please help me out…?

I’m trying use my home game membership and upgrade my seats to Level 2. Is this doable through ticket master?

I can’t seem to find the option to upgrade my seating after entering my member bar codes, only L1 allowed…

Also, no matter which area on level 1 I select (wing) it assigns me behind the goals. Wtf!

Has anyone got a work around or could please tell me what the hell im doing wrong?

TIA

Stevie Wonder the goal umpire, Scarlett pulling a toe poke straight out of his ass hole oh and shitting the bed in front of goal in the first half when we should have been 6 goals up. 👍

Also pissweak AFL that allowed a banned procedure to be strategically just out of grand final week as if the affected bloke didn't kick 3 in a game decided by 2.

There's something about a wrestling analogy where what the AFL wanted the AFL got and if it wasn't scripted it bloody well went close that they still CBF amending the record to 7 points.

Thankfully with Port, they tended to just torch us at contest, also thankfully chief space cadet Acres is now a Blue so we shouldn't get burned as much from that aspect for PTSD instances.

In my opinion we are only 3 players shy of full strength..Caminiti, King and Webster!
Mike’s Best 22

B: Webster - Howard - Wilkie
HB: Wang.-Mil. - Battle - Sinclair
C: Hill - Ross - Wood
HF: Gresham - Membrey - Butler
F: Higgins - King - Owens
Foll: Marshall - Steele - Crouch

Int: Phillipou Caminiti Byrnes Windhager Stocker Clark Cordy Paton

Who are the three that miss then? And who’s the sub?

I think if Dixon doesn't play that given there lack of tall options we are pretty much the lock of the century.
They way we sets up forces the opposition to bomb forward on most occasions. Battle Wilkie and Howard will have a field day.
