Moore on Walker
Murphy on Thilthorpe
Maynard on Fogarty

Agree that these are the tall matchups. Quaynor on Rankine, Noble on Rachele.

But as always, the key will be winning the midfield battle to minimise the volume & quality of their entries. I think that's why Frampton needs to stay in the ruck, despite being an ideal move to strengthen our defence.

Yep
If Frampton isn’t in the ruck then the ball is coming in a lot faster and more often

Sorry, this is utter nonsense. Elliott's production this year is just barely down on his career averages. A few disappointing misses, yes, but even thinking of dropping him is lunacy.
You aren’t sorry hah. The Elliott stuff is crap. If it’s judged on yesterday well then Elliott >>> Hill and if it’s on the basis of his 2023 to date then as you’ve rightly pointed out he’s tracking slightly behind his career numbers. IMO, he played with zip and was the set shot in the 3rd away from having a decent day because his other set shots were both low %. By the by Hill is in no danger of being dropped himself. Sometimes your opponent gets you and McGrath’s performance has been underrated.

Obviously would prefer half a dozen options before Kelly but they are all injured.
I think he showed enough yesterday and he also is athletic enough to run with Tex
Frampton has to stay in ruck to stop the ball at the source
Seriously? Kelly isn’t even good enough to play as a key defender in our VFL side.
Walker would kick about 15 goals on him.

Maynard/ IQ>>>Noble>>>Naicos>Kelly…

The other 4 at least have the benefit of time within our senior defensive system as opposed to Kelly the wingman.

I wouldn't play Kelly as a key back. But I'd keep him as the sub, because he was important in the last quarter.

I think he has to stay as sub because if we lose a tall during the game we are completely stuffed if we don't have another to bring in. He's not the best player at this stage in his career but he can give us an option at either end.

Krueger was better than his stats suggest. He crashed packs, flew high for marks, brought the ball to ground and caused a bit of chaos, which we generally thrive on.

Yes, he gave away some frees and got the timing of a few leaps comically wrong but he’ll be better for the run.

I have no doubt he’ll go out of the side when some/all of Cox, Cameron and McStay are available but this week is not the time to do it.

Kreuger dropped everything that came his way and gave away silly free kicks. He was comically bad.

I think you’re suffering from recency bias. Kelly was OK yesterday but only had limited minutes and was mostly out wide. But he has been so bad over an extended period as a defender that even our VFL coaches don’t trust him to play that role.

And Walker is playing really well this season - both in terms of goals he is scoring himself and also the many he is setting up for others. He will absolutely destroy Kelly.

And if you drop Krueger, what happens if any of Frampton, AJ, Moore, Maynard or Checkers cops an early injury?

This just isn’t the week to toss a physically-combative tall player out of our side. Do it when Cox returns.

Either end and can play wing. He's like an upgrade on Tom Wilson, I think. A nose in front.

Elliott is 100% not getting dropped, those posts can be ignored. He was seriously banged up by the Saints and copped a few hits but he was covering the ground just fine yesterday.

Adams and Murphy straight back in. Hoskin-Elliott has to be on the chopping block (averaging just 10 possessions and a tackle a game over the last 4 weeks). Kreuger looks underdone so maybe we can put him as the sub in case a tall goes down.

In: Adams, Murphy
Out: Krueger (SUB), Hoskin-Elliott

If Pendles is out then Kreuger stays in for another go.

Yes he was but he played exactly like someone who hasnt played a game of football in 9 months would be expected to. Should be better for the run.

Not dropping Krueger

Every week we seem to be coming up against a team that's in form. When do we get some bloody easy games
The team that were 2 goals down against the hawks with a few minutes left? I am more worried that their top 40 players are all available for selection
Would prefer Keane and Brown were playing
