I think Pendlebury is a chance that he'll miss with that swollen eye. Adams could come straight back in for him. But after the game Carmichael had, he's commanding a spot too!

It'll be hard to pick someone to omit after this round, Ruscoe was a good plug and play selection. We need Kruger in for our forward structure and ruck relief. And Kelly showed a lot in 1 qtr. But the way Murph has been playing, we need him back in. It's a great problem to have!

I think Geelong have shown the blueprint for managing players over 30 through a long season, and it's not to force them to play every week.
It has been their handling of their players that has given them their last 2 flags because they also looked after their players much better than Malthouse did in 2011, he cost us a fair chance in that season. I think if we are arguing about who to leave out with probably 6 of our starting 22 out we are in a strong position to rest players IMO.

I think:
In Murphy, Adams
Out: Ruscoe, WHE

Sub: Kelly

and just hope Kreuger has a bit better touch

Johnson in the ruck is a disaster imo, looks like he will give away a free every contest
Players giving away that much weight and height invariably infringe when there are stoppages inside the opposition's forward fifty. They panic and scrag. I still think the free to Draper was as soft as they come. That was Fly's one mistake. Frampton was running high on adrenalin, and I think he could have played his role without a chop out as Grundy has often done in the past.

We have a nice patch around round 9-12
We never take advantage of our "Nice patches." Our timing is bad as usual. Lewis will be back for the Hawks and he will make a huge difference to their forward structure. They always worry us. It's been that way for decades and is as predictable as the sunrise each morning. The Eagles are currently decimated, and Geelong were the beneficiaries as they were when they played a decimated Swans line up on their dung heap. When does that club cop a bad break? They will probably have 6 of their currently missing players back when we meet. We jsut don't dine out on so called weaker sides. It's a strange situation. We can match and usually beat the very best but just get over far weaker teams. I don't know why. Geelong and Brisbane have always feasted on lower rung sides.

I must say it is bemusing that Geelong win the flag and then get West Coast, North and Gold Coast in the first 5 weeks. Talk about a nice easy start. The flogs could only manage 2 of 3 though

That's the point I was making in an earlier post, not that we can take big wins for granted against some of these sides.
That said, I think we'll be going for the jugular when we DO play them.
I messaged a Geelong supporting friend after round 3 : "Are you guys tanking?"

IN: Adams, Murphy
OUT: Markov, Kreuger

B: T.Ruscoe, D.Moore, B.Maynard
HB: N.Daicos, N.Murphy, I.Quaynor
C: S.Sidebottom, J.Crisp, J.Daicos
HF: T.Adams, B.Mihochek, B.McCreery
F: J.Elliott, A.Johnson, B.Hill
R: B.Frampton, J.DeGoey, T.Mitchell
I: J.Noble, W.Hoskin-Elliott, S.Pendlebury, J.Ginnivan
Sub: J.Carmichael

Markov was serviceable today and played a role but makes way. This could also be Ruscoe going out but he really impressed me in the 2nd half today.

Part of me wants to keep Kreuger in the side for structure, but he was awful today and must force his way back in through a string of strong performances in the 2's. I believe in his talent, he just needs to get the touch back.

Spot on.

Kreuger was a liability out there. Had 2 effective touches and fumbled everything.

That in itself is not a reason to drop him, nor is it the way Collingwood works. They select on need, and to retain structure.

After missing an entire summer, playing one vfl game and then getting sick, he’s hardly had the ideal preparation. But he did free up Johnson to play forward for most of the game and gave frampton a chop out. And he was definitely smashing packs.

In the absence of Cameron Cox mcstay, and with Begg still injured and Steene still learning, he stays.

He took 1 mark and had 0 hitouts for the game. He ain't as important to structure as you think.
