Whitfield is now 800K not scoring any points for you and not generating cash. His injury doesn't smell like 1 round to me

It's a corkie lol, not a broken leg or a hammy. Most he misses is 2 weeks, and I would say that's highly unlikely. He might drop 50K, but GWS have a very good run coming up after next week, so unless it's a certainty he misses more than 2 weeks, or you're in the top 500 vying for the car or a top 100 finish, doesn't seem worth it IMO (especially if you have other forced trades that prevent you from getting him back in)

The Fantasy week without Thursday night games is a long one. Hurry up Friday night!

I'm looking forward to Sunday night more, haha. Want to fast-forward and see if Libba was worth keeping, and trading in another top 6 defender. Next Sunday or the one after (depending on Libba), I'll have the team I want heading into the byes, with the back and forward lines clear of rooks, so that's what I'm looking forward to most tbh, haha

Might clear out some junk and do:
Schultz > Answerth via Atkins
Wagner > Adams

Adams at 654k is cheap.

Am a non Whitfield owner, but can see the merit in trading him out to say a Stewart type. Points probably level out but value is there as long as you can bring Whitfield back as soon as he bottoms out. You'd gain 120k to spend this week which hopefully you could use to better another line, and could expect Whitfield to drop anywhere between 50-100k meaning you save that money too. Depending on how many weeks he misses is where the points differential will make a difference.

I keep changing my mind on this one. Corkies, whilst not serious structurally can linger. Especially if he gets another knock in the same spot which is bound to happen.

I think if Whitfield is out then i'm going to trade him to C.Guthrie. The guy is only 485k. Averaging mid 90's. He'll be skyrocketing in price over the 2-3 week period whilst whitfield will be plummeting. I think the last thing you can do if you opt to trade Whitfield is to trade him to another top 6 defender like Stewart /Hurn/ etc. because trading a Stewart/Hurn type back to Whitfield in 2-3 weeks time is even more of a wasted trade as you want them both at the end of the day. Whereas trading back a Guthrie to Whitfield is obvious and justified.

The counter argument to that is that you trade Whit to one of those top 6 types and then aim to get extra cash and trade a rookie to Whit in 2-3 weeks time leaving you with both top 6 players

Then keep whoever you trade in and trade someone else up to Whitfield

Actually haven't seen the knock but apparently it was pretty heavy? Corkies can be quite troublesome if the injury is quite deep in the muscle which is possible in a larger muscle like the quad. I'd expect him to receive better than average medical attention to ensure it doesn't end up serious though

How good do we think Nick Larkey is? I'm considering a double downgrade for him, but I do have cash for a down/up this week.

The thought of doing a double upgrade next week is quite good though, could trade out Drew/Rozee/Clark/Wilkie near their max.

True. but that's not really possible. To go scrimshaw to Whitfield, you'd need $300k. I can't see that happening any time soon. So you'd be without whitfield for a long long time waiting for that to happen.

Lots of cows are ready to be culled so don't think it should be too hard at this point in the season. May take a double downgrade next week to ensure it but just a thought. I don't own him so I'll be pouncing in a few weeks

Yeah that’s what I would like to know from Kangas fans around here. Looking at the North Melbourne board it seems he won’t be dropped for a while after his 3 goals in a losing side. But is he a scapegoat the next game they lose if he doesn’t kick 2+ goals?

I'm more confident in Larkey than Answerth tbh. Larkey was the leading VFL goalkicker last year after all and is in a side where there are limited forward targets... whereas Answerth is one of many running defenders at the Lions.

Hayes or Lockhart a better downgrade target at this stage? Feel like Lockhart might have better job security, but I could be wrong.

Doing something I don’t usually do and bringing back in a player I traded out.

Parker to larkey (bench)
Scrim to smith

Scrim constantly worries me that get plays one decent qtr then struggles to reach 70 at best and always looks like a 40-50 score is around the corner. The injuries to Milera and Seedsman have opened up smiths scoring for the next month and has backed it up with a 90 and 100 consecutively and will rise another 50k quickly. Leaves my defence with Duursma and Hore as onfield rookies and can easily get smith or Williams to Whitfield once he drops

I'm not sure why people are trying to convince others not to trade out Whitfield. Go for it, I'll be a happy owner in 2 weeks time when he comes back in off my bench.
I don't have Whit so love the current 170+ BE. If I had him though I'd be going Whit > Laird/Lloyd/Sicily this week and saving the $100K or so. Then in 2 weeks when he's dropped in price getting him back. With Scrim/Stack/Hore (most people would have at least one of these) you'll easily get him back.

Most people can't have 800k on the bench in their league match-ups too. If thats your focus I don't blame anyone going sideways...

To be honest I thought Lockhart had good JS. Purely becuase as soon as he was right again from injury he was back in. But he seemingly went missing against us the other night, his plusses before seemed to be his pressure and going the extra mile for the mark and pressure. So now I dont know. Hayes I would have thought with so many mids in WB that he didnt have much, but two rounds of running around doing his bit, I really dont know now. This round, I would have put Hayes JS ahead of Lockhart, but that could change in one week. Sorry not much help, but just the way I see it right now. Could wait for teams, if Lockhart is there, JS must be pretty good. He is clearly up and down though, where as Hayes at least scores a decent amount if he keeps his spot. Probably again not much help.

To be fair, the whole Melbourne team went missing after quarter time last week. Barely made it into their forward line cleanly so can see him retaining his spot

I actually hope he does. I thought he was an alright player when given the chance. Means another rook making money for me more importantly.
