Gee, just my opinion but can you imagine the egg on face if some of the posters of today were here yesterday and hanging their opinions on Jono Browns first game of doughnuts. :D

Very disappointed that Harzy had to be subbed out. Thought he was poor early in the game (I assume it was nerves), but after about the 5-10 minute mark it was like the Harzy of old. Comforting to hear from Leppa that Harzy had said he was all good after half time so will be right for next week.

I want that Saint Kilda player, not sure who he was, that blatantly hit Christensen in the back of the head when he was on the ground to get a suspension.

Also that Saint player who blatantly flat out punched Bewick (I think) in the face off the ball to go straight to the tribunal.

Disgusting act by the two of them and l hope l never see a Lion do that to an opposition player.

i no doubt his promise and potential but these are issues in his game highlighted pre drafting and they do come out from time to time, so we shouldnt point it out and overlook them?
Of course you need to work on areas of improvement but as far as I could tell the kid was trying really hard to make something happen and just had no one to kick to . I'm sure if he looked up and saw Roughead and Gunston further afield he would've made a beeline.

It's always easy from the grandstand . At least he was presenting himself and trying to encourage others to get some movement going ,from what I saw he was the only one asking for it and when he got it no one else did

Thought Leuy was pretty poor in his 100th, not sure why Browny was trying to pump him up. Didnt influence the game at all. Did make a nice contest wen running to the ball and crossing it off the boundary. Really think we need to trade him at the end of the year, just isn't influencing the game enough as a forward.

Hard to trade a free agent

I saw that Bewick incident, Weller was trying to hit his body but accidentally hit his face. Probably looked worse than it actually was. Not sure there was enough force for a suspension though. Maybe just a fine. He was also pretty apologetic and helped Bewick get up.

The guy's what 6'10 or something .

Surely they can teach him how to mark. They've got all day to work on it these days . He gets his hands near the ball and it just bounces out every time . If he can't take a mark why not just get him to knock it on and run onto it . That can't be too hard . He's the tallest guy on the field

I'm wondering whether he's just been injured so often that his confidence has taken a big hit

I think it has gotten to the point where the coaches staff has just said to him "Try and mark it, but if you can't just make a contest and knock it down for the smalls to crumb it". I think he just thinks that he can no longer mark it so he has decided to pat it down every time now.

What happened today is simply a case of the youngest list in the comp playing with a multitude of injuries and then losing another 3-4 in the game and your skipper has a broken rib. You really can't expect to be winning games no matter who the opposition is. We all took great delight in beating Collingwood at the MCG last year but they were decimated by injuries before and during the match and they couldn't go with us.

While this is true watching the game I thought even today with the team we had and the injuries we had it was our mistakes that cost us the game.

I don't think st Kilda had much more in them and We left so much on the park. It's why my post was largely negative and many others have been.

Plenty of positives that we could focus on but many minor improvements in so many plays of that game that could have changed he result. We aren't learning and moving up the ladder if we don't properly review the games.

I thought it was great to see Lester kick four goals. To cement a position in our best 22 he would only be expected to contribute 1-2 goals at best. He marked well and kicked confidently at the goals. It may just be that we have under estimated his ability and the reason Leppa has been so patient. The last couple of games could be the turning point in his career. At least I hope so

If mids take 3 years, and talls take 5 years then tall mids should take 4 years. Using that basis he's right on schedule.

Things confirmed today. Aish is shit. Green needs to find ways to get into the game. Bewick makes horrid decisions with the ball. Rich is lazy. Zorko has to be dropped most dissapointing player this year. Dawson is very very slow but young. Leuy has to be traded. Taylor needs to do damage with possessions not chip backwards. Zac o'brien must never play Afl ever again, anywhere anyhow. Leppa needs to rip into the umps and cop the fine-they kill us every week.we need 2 guns bought in over summer. It has sucked being a lions supporter for a long time now.

We should sack everyone.

Bit of hard truth guys... Rich cannot handle a tag. It's time to look at what we could get for him before he gets too old and loses value.

I have to agree with you here. Last week it was really evident that we didn't have the KPP's to go with Essendon and even though we didn't this week either St Kilda's bigs as a collective aren't in the same class as Essendons. However, yesterday we really did shoot ourselves in the foot with constant skill and decision making errors. I believe Leppa more or less said the same thing after the game in that they scored something like 12goals from turn overs. Just to add, there is a marked difference from when we take the game on and when we 'slow' it down. Maybe the players take it a bit too literally and think snails pace, no switching and kick it straight back from where it came from. As much a it pained me to see Squizzy kick it backwards constantly I think he was just trying to follow the coaches orders.

does anyone know how many centre bounces we won after the first quarter?
Longer played pretty well, but it didn't seem to matter because most of our ruckmens taps went straight to a st kilda midfielder.
This in my opinion is where the match turned. We could not win it and create some forward pressure after the first quarter.
Yes maybe it was rockys ribs, i dont know, but we need to improve in this area especially.
I thought our defence was great considering our players experience.
Anyway, that was the area we lost the game to me

Longer has always been an elite jumper, and this will get him to the ball first, more often than not, but he is not a good footballer.

Their rucks dominated in the air but it helps that their midfielders know how to win clearances. Even though our clearance numbers are ok we usually bomb it long out of the clearance.

I reckon Longer did much better at the centre "bounce" when the ump had to recall the bounce (far too often) and throw it up...it really suited him and provided a distinct advantage.

Stoppages still terrible and not improving. They have less excuses in this area. Redden was out this week and Hanley will make a difference to be sure, to be sure but there's enough depth available to be able to put up a much better performance against a team like St Kilda. Saw in after game that Leppitsch said they win first possession but not the clearance which is even worse.
