Review Round 9, 2018 - Brisbane Lions vs. Hawthorn

Beams and Bundy both bounced back from poor games with aplomb.

Baby, we did it! So happy for the boys to finally get some reward for effort. Been pretty strange (and disappointing) to watch us play good footy most weeks then come on here and see people claiming we've been awful, haven't improved, etc. This is a much improved side from last year, and that's evident if you just sit down and watch us play. Today it all clicked and we got the win, which is great, but it's the clear improvement which has got me so excited.

McCluggage was immense today. Andrews as well. Got solid contributions from pretty much every player which is a great sign.

We're on the board in 2018! Party time!

Cutler showed today how damaging he can be on the wing. Has improved enormously under Fagan.

Indeed. Has certainly not been one of Fages favoutites either. Lots of head scratching over the last two years by most of us as he played in the twos. Credit were its due he has been very good the last couple of weeks.

When it was 6-24 it had a feeling to the game that the Hawks were going to belt us but we responded instantly and never stopped from then on.

So proud and happy, it's been a tough year in terms of W/L but it's been an exciting year to watch us play and now the boys got reward for effort.

Today was the first game where our backline really gelled as a unit and we rarely turned it over coming out of defence . I think Eagles with his size has taken the pressure off Andrews who doesn't now need to just nullify their best forward and is showing how damaging he can be offensively.

Players who had been down really turned it around today and it shows what a little confidence can do . Martin and McInerny worked very effectively in tandem which kept the pressure up at the stoppages

Even at half time we’d had half the inside 50s and their midfield was well on top but instead of the hawks getting reward for their midfield dominance in the second half we dominated. Was a very pleasant surprise.
