Clark's fitness shouldn't be too much of an issue. He would have been able to do a lot of running over the last month or so

Both he and Billings in for me

Don't mind the idea of Highmore in for one of Paton or Webster

Probably send Long into Butler's spot and Highmore back for him.

Possibly but I like the idea of Long buzzing about in the vicinity of that twerp Gryan Miers.
I reckon within a quarter of Long whooshing past Miers he'd bench himself with "personal issues"
and sub himself out before retiring to the rooms for a shower and a change of underwear.

OUT - NWM, Butler
IN - Billings, Byrnes

Membrey in rotten form. Send him to tag Stewart.

DMac to tag Duncan.

Battle on Cameron. Doogs on Hawkins. Wilkie on Stengle.

Surely we can dominate the ruck and get first use?

King and Higgins to have their contracts redrawn so that they only get paid when they have better than 50% goal kicking each game.

King kicked 2.1 on the weekend

I think over the last 18 games he's kicked more points than goals twice

For two games in a row, our forward half hasn't done good enough and it needs a serious tweak by the coach. Not enough work being done at ground level, and the key forwards are stagnant. We need to be kicking goals again the Pussies.

Big test for King this week.

Looked ominous in both games against them last year but couldn't kick straight in the first encounter than got injured in the second one.

They will likely start De Koning on him and this is his chance to dominate someone lighter than him.

On our board we are suggesting that Stanley (late out with injury v GWS) will be back in the ruck this week, allowing Blicavs to play back on King.

King should be the number one focus for Geelong coaches this week, he was absolutely dominant in that game v you at Marvel last year. You would have certainly won the game if he'd kicked straighter.

I saw Butler injured yesterday, assume he will be out? His likely opponent Bews got concussed on Saturday so will also be missing.

I'd forgotten about Blicavs. Definetly a good match up for King athletically. I think you moved him onto King in our 2nd match up last year (albeit after King had got injured) and he did a pretty good job on him. That would leave De Koning for Marshall/Ryder.

We assume Butler will be out - Ratts revealed he has been playing with achilles soreness and was struggling to run so the 6 day break makes him seem unlikely. Billings the likely in to replace him and we could see Gresham, Long or Billings rotate through that small forward post. Higgins is still our number 1 small but no Butler takes away some of our pace up forward.

How do we take Stewart out of the game? He’s their key.

Reckon we shot ourselves in the foot being to conscious of May against Melbourne. Just going to have to back in our forwards to beat them. Aliir teared us a new one but we would have won anyway had we kicked straight.

Out: Butler (inj), NWM, Windhager
In: Billings, Clark, Byrnes.

That's three out for three players in similar positions. Need to get Clark and Billings firing regularly if we're going anywhere this season

Clark just came in, he will need a couple of weeks in the VFL/.

Out Butler, NWN Winhager

in Billings, Byrnes, Sharman

The good thing is we have players in the twos playing very well.

Billings
Lienart
Highmore
Clark
Owens

All pushing there case.
Couple of those back this week too, Clark and Billings I suspect.

Billings in for Butler

If Geelong weren't in possession of a couple of handy smaller forwards, I'd probably advocate a Leinert for Webster change. Let's hope Jimmy bounces back.

Defenders: Howard, Wilkie, Battle, Paton, Webster, Sinclair, Hill
Midfielders: Ryder, Steele, Crouch, Ross, McKenzie, NWM, Billings, Jones
Forwards: King, Membrey, Marshall, Higgins, Long, Gresham, Wood

In- Billings
Out- Butler

I'd love Clark in if fit, Wood would go out for him..

I'd swing Long fwd to replace Butler's pressure...

Maybe Highmore gets a well deserved go there for Butler also with Longs move

I think Joyce could come in to play on Hawkins. He's too big and strong for either Wilkie or Battle.
I'm assuming that Howard goes to Cameron.

Will be a tough game again this week. Cats were arguably back to their best over GWS and played a more typical ball control style. Their use of Duncan as a 7th defender was very effective in intercept but also setting up control out of the back half. We will need a plan for that as we've seen first hand what a decent mid in Brayshaw was able to do to us yesterday in a similar role.

Big test for the group mentally to back up after being shown exactly how far away from the best teams we are. If we get our attitude right we're a real chance. Our best won't all have days like they had yesterday again; lots of short term improvement just on the back of better contributions from Steele, Marshall, King, Jones, Gresham & Higgins.

As for changes, Billings comes into the team. I know there's a lot of debate about him, but he's good for 20 touches and a goal and is a fairly long way ahead of many others in the 22 from yesterday. I'd like to see Nas keep his spot, he's not up to it yet, but he's learning and is impressing me in cameos at the moment. It's a bit of an investment in Nas at the moment. On the other hand, Wood got more of the footy and his stats looked OK but amongst other errors, didn't have the class/composure to finish even one of two very gettable chances early in the 3rd which would have put more pressure on Melbourne and more belief in his teammates.
I've liked Windhagers performances thus far, he's a tough kid with a few tricks. He stays in the side with Butler out injured.

In: Billings, Windhager
Out: Butler (inj), Wood

I would humbly suggest Wilkie will go to Cameron, and Howard to Hawkins.

Again, if we could go taller in the backline this week, I would entertain the idea but Geelong have good small forwards and we probably need two lockdown small defenders in the team.

During the first 6 weeks of the season, we had the most dangerous forward line in the comp, and the idea that we were seriously keen on recruiting Ben King seemed like madness. But now I'm starting to think we need another marking target up forward, especially because Membrey is playing predominantly up the wings (only 3 of his 17 touches were in the forward 50). The problem is evident by looking at how often we are kicking it to Higgins on a long lead, which is just not sustainable.

Ben King is obviously off the cards, but Sharman is available, and I think we just need to build him into our structure to give us another avenue to goal.
