Not the first and wont be the last, as much as it sucks, pafc need to make sure we are compensated to the extent that we say travis who?

Geez i hope we win a flag b4 he does at geelong...

Nick stevens says hi.....!

I think we should not only deal exculsively we geelong. The club is our only priority, so get the absolute best deal possible. Could turn out to be a similar situation to Mitch Clarke

Is it correct he cannot nominate a club without our agreement? If so unless geelong come up with the goods we want it's too f'n bad. If he wants to go whoever pays the best price gets him...

Well my thoughts are if your name isn't Hartlett, Gray, Ebert, Wingard, Carlile, Moore, or Butcher your on the trading block. Lets make some big moves.

Ps. I realise I missed some names but you get the point.
PPS. I also realise there is no one with any trade value in our team besides those people.

If he has to go which he shouldnt...We have to say to him if you want to get back to vic you need to be open to offers from all vic clubs so we can get the best deal. Then we will help you. If you nominate a club and they offer us jack your off to sydney or the gold coast. I think he will see our point.

Not every player would be keen to sign a 5 year deal

yeah if you're thinking of your family back home but love port and want to stay here longer a 5 year deal would be a bit scary i would think.

I think he will understand that. He would know that he is setting us back big time

Not believing that he'll stay or writing him off until Boak himself or somebody at the club makes it official. I'd rather trade him than put him on a million dollar 5 year contract TBH. With that kind of money we could probably get a free agent who's better than Boak.

Geelong will probably offer us Jesse Stringer. 'Hey guys ex Port Magpie, perfect fit!!!11!!. We'll even throw in this 2000 AU Falcon. Only driven to Geelong Baptist church on Sundays by the grandmother of one of our Ford factory workers'.:thumbsu:

Don't be ridiculous Ford. You're understating the intelligence of people on team boards and the Drafts & Trading board.

It'd be Jesse Stringer and a third rounder. You know, because 2 things are always better than 1 thing.

Let's not look into positives within this deal anymore and let's start looking for potential deals we could strike.
Looks like he's lost. And no, he definitely isn't worth that money anyway.

Start looking for the best deal possible. If Geelong (or any other club) starts playing hardball, I don't even mind seeing him go to the draft and GWS or GCS picking him up.

So much for all those promises at the start of the year, Boak. Shows that your word holds no weight what so ever.

one things for sure. If he comes back to amii stadium playing for another side i am gonna Boo the **** out of him

Why, if he decides to go and it appears that it's based purely on his family situation he would be doing exactly what I would expect of my kids in looking after their mother if she was missing him badly. We took the risk in drafting Travis and it might bite us in the bum.

If he left, does it have to be to the cats. Wouldn't Mel, dogs or Roos be able to offer similar money to port plus the ability to be back home. In terms of future success, they would look all similar to Port at the moment. As someone said, you wouldn't be guaranteeing geelongs status as ladder leader over the next few years. I'd say there's a fair bit for the lad to weigh up. Hopefully he stays, but I don't think he'll be short of options if the family pull is too strong.

Yeah, agree with this.

Anybody thinking of booing Travis, just read the posts by West Coast posters about how Brad Ebert apparently dogged them by going back to the club where his father was a good player, his uncle was the best player in their history and he himself played for them as a junior and think about how ridiculous they sound. Not quite on the same level of attachment to a club or area as Boak, but I don't begrudge a guy going home to be with his family after the death of his father. If he's turning down 5 year contracts on ridiculous money to make it happen then it clearly means a lot to him. If you draft a guy like that, then you have to accept that they come with go-home risk attached and if it happens, it happens.

If he does go, I hope that nobody boos him. Save your boos for Easy Way Out Burgoyne and scum like Will Minson who truly deserve it.

This. A bit of perspective please.

Even if Boak does leave, he's one of the very few that actually has good reason and we shouldn't begrudge him that.
