On the Greg Lynn committal proceedings Crown Prosecutor Mr Dickie said 'It is clear hopefully from the document, and if it's not clear from the document it's clear hopefully from the charges put before the court, that it is alleged of course that the accused acted with murderous intent when he allegedly killed the two victims.'

He had motive, means and opportunity.

He admits deliberately destroying all evidence so he could escape detection.

He admits destroying the victims' remains when he became a suspect.

A jury should not reward him by acquitting him on the basis of his thoroughness in attempting to elude conviction.

I don't think they're going to acquit him but my point was the difficulty in deciding unanimously on murder or manslaughter for two people.

Im noting arguments saying the Prosecutiom must prove and others saying simply debunk the story. The story isnt believable to me. Its laughable. Its clear there are 2 opposite arguments but surely Lynn's actions and extremeties imply guilt. If he were to walk away from this we'll have an epidemic of Greg Lynn's running around campsites. Its got to be murder or manslaughter IMO

This is key.

His only remorse is he is in court and life on hold. So nearly got away with it.

I'm not convinced by this premise. Whether he was arrested before burning the bodies or after doesn't change what went down that night or even if he turned himself in immediately the next day.

It's difficult to imagine a real motive here for GL to simply murder RH over a dispute. If the RH death can be explained it does make selling GL silencing Carol as a witness alot easier. That's a realistic motive that can be sold.

He's pretty much admitted manslaughter with the death of CC so he'll go down for that. The sentence for destroying evidence should be on the high end too.

That alone should be a strong incentive against other offenders.

Realistically we'll likely never see this sort of thing happen again. Campers will keep well clear in remote areas and steer clear over ridiculous altercations.

Id bet my house that we won't see a similar crime ever again.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in Australia that wouldnt know anything about this case. It'l happen again dont worry.

Have seen a few queries regarding alcohol consumed by either parties and its long been a query of mine. There hasn’t been much mentioned but from what I recall:

- there were 2 x burnt bourbon/scotch cans found within the fire debris at RH and CC’s camp.

- RH’s wife mentioned she had helped him pack and had packed a bottle of bourbon or scotch

Can’t recall exact references but the second one had to be in recent weeks during court.

In the same setting (two unrelated parties in the middle of a vast open area like Wonangatta) - I doubt it. Has it ever happened previously ?

ABC LIve thread:
"Mr Lynn has described the state of the campsite after Mrs Clay and Mr Hill were killed.
"There was a very large pool of blood on the ground in between [Russell Hill's] landcruiser and the tent," he said.
He told the court he wore a pair of gloves as he moved about the area.
"The scene was horrendous".

This is so telling isn't it.
Just one detail in many that add up to what we've presumed was IMO cold blooded murder.

But he panicked, please! very telling.

Wasn't there a poster the other day that had a strange encounter in the same area?

And after all that efficiency in cleaning up and destroying evidence, using gloves, stealing money, the drone and their phones, yet he didn't realise Hill's phone was turned on?
2 slipups...Hills phone and the Hotham camera. Pretty good going considering the circumstances.

How does someone make a joke to wife when viewing the 60 minutes story re the quip about car looking the same? That is telling too IMO.

Normal person would surely show giveaway signs.

In my opinion GL waited till Hill and Clay settled down for the night in their PJs. He then went about intimidating them until he achieved a reaction from Hill, Hill bruised GL and was put down. This happened to me. I arrived a campsite called Ah Youngs or Maguire Point just after midday 1 Nov 2018, a dark 4wd and trailer were set up near the drop toilet. I parked as far away as possible from him and near a camp table. I walked around the site and came across a recently killed roo, I continued towards the drop toilet and said to the sole man who looks like GL that there is some food for your dog. He said gruffly "I know". Dogs are allowed in that part of the park. It seems to me that GL does not like sharing his camp site, because after I had some dinner and was very concerned about GL, who I new to have a gun, I decided to sleep in the back of my Pajero in a constructed bunk. I had taken the measure of covering all windows with removable reflective insulation panels. I was reading a book by headlanp and started to hear russleing noises outside my car these transitioned to heavy breathing. I reacted by pulling down the adjacent insulation shining a bright lantern at the noise and shouting and waving a tomahawk and a knife, unfortunately the backscatter from the lantern also blinded me, but the noise went away. I left that camp first thing in the morning. Question: does / did GL have a big alsation. There are other missing people before my incident and before the Hill/Clay incident. GL knew how to sanitize a crime scene and to disappear any victims, he was well practised IMO. He should go down for all of these murders IMO
If this is a true account did you alert police once you thought it was Lynn?

Greg Lynn 'very sorry' to families for conduct

24m ago
By Judd Boaz
Reporting by Jesse Thompson
The initial questioning from Mr Lynn's lawyer concluded with the former Jetstar pilot saying he is "very sorry" to the families of Carol Clay and Russell Hill for his conduct.

Ok, Those who said he was taking the stand to show more remorse might be correct.

That would be involuntary manslaughter.
Doubt he'd get the maximum even thou the same as voluntary if he successfully argues self defence. He'd be done on unsafe storage. And extra given conduct after. That is best case not guilty RH guilty involuntary ms on CC. Would get probably 10

I'm thinking he will get about 10 years.

What about destruction of evidence ?
Surely he deserves to have the book
thrown at him and get maximum punishment for that crime alone.

From the time he calmly and methodically trashed the crime scene, meticulously cleaned up the mess, dragged the lifeless bodies of two people who didn’t need to die, loaded up his trailer, made his hasty exit, to the final sweeping
up the bone fragments of the lives of two people who had been totally wiped out from ever having existed on this planet.

To say nothing of the anxiety, grief and distress caused to the lives of the families of these victims that he has so
carelessly and callously dismissed.

And importantly, the system needs to send out a warning loud and clear to any other would be copy cat killers who think they might have a go. They need to
know they will be removed from society and will suffer the full force of the law.

I like the judge. He seems a knockabout down to earth bloke. Left school at 15 to be a motocross rider. Didn’t quite make the cut and then ended up going back and doing year 12 at the age of 25. The rest is history. Great podcast on him attached.

It will be interesting…….
The charge of destroying evidence (sec 254 crimes act) only carries a max sentence of 5 yrs. He’s already served 3. Does he get one of these charges or two? I don’t know. Obviously this is what the defence is chasing. Murder innocent- MS innocent. Yeah we’ll cop the destroying evidence charge (geez how generous).

Can you do the summing up for the prosecution please?
