Still lacking real class in the midfield, which gets exposed against the very best.
Is the very best the team that wins the Premiership or?

Richmond concede the midfield every week and still won 3 Premierships.

They just had a come from behind win against GWS with a midfield of: Martin, Baker, Graham, Collier-Dawkins, Aarts, Mcintosh

and for us games against top 8 teams are over in the first 5 minutes.

Our coach is just shit.

The club set premiership expectations, if we don't achieve that or even make a ģf then they have no choice
They will just change the rules or the script. I truly don’t know what will get him out because it seems to me as long as we are not in the bottom 4 our board is counting that as successful.

our club is in real trouble if we keep allowing him to finish mid table and say we are not quite there yet

Has there ever been a coach handed so much for a return of so little in the history of the sport?

A football department and a list management/recruitment team as good as any we've seen in the AFL.
He's had the list he's wanted, traded out players he didn't want, and brought in the players he wanted in.

First it was Patrick Ryder coming in as the missing piece of the premiership puzzle - *Bzzzzzzz* Didn't work.
Then it was Dixon - *Bzzzzzzz* Sorry, try again.
Then it was Allir Allir - *Bzzzzzz* Rinse and repeat.

Despite all of this we've never been anything more than a team making up the numbers, save 2020 with yet another leg up of being one of the few teams playing home games.

When will the penny drop that the common denominator with all of these failures is Kenneth Hinkley?

we fight back in the second quarter, come back again but loose to a team which is ok.

ken comes on and talks like ken, no surprise there.

the negative over reaction started during the first quarter!

can confidently say that a review of other boards that the negativity on this thread are by a country mile the most anti of any. That is not good

all this condoned by a moderator.

the port crowd lasT night was cheering for a win?

were the above doing the same , i doubt it very much and as such are not real port Adelaide suppoters.

2021: Semi Final (maybe)
2022: 11th

“I think we’ve got to be realistic, Gerard. They lost Westhoff and Ebert a couple of years ago. They’ve lost Boak, Gray and Hartlett this year. 2022 has been a reset for Port Adelaide. There’s still a lot to like”.

2023: 8th

“Ken’s back!”

Port under Hinkley

We'll never give up and you get what you deserve
We have to get to the top of the mountain
The missing piece of the puzzle
We know who you are
Wingard and Polec's fault
You all thought Ken was a superhero at 11-1
Someone's gotta lose
It's a brutal game and a tough competition
We just need 30 seconds of magic I reckon
We're a good team but not a great team.

the most anti port club, critical and negative for the whole of port Adelaide history. Not port Adelaide suppoters yesterday, today or tomorrow.

Yeah, Port Adelaide’s greatness was built on suckholes and sycophants like you glorifying individuals responsible for failure 🤪

Real Port supporters wouldn't put up with this mediocre rubbish Hinkley has produced for near on nine years, if you think our results are good maybe you should support the franchise down the road, with that said they didn't even accept it from Pyke & Sanderson.

How many years of failure are you ok with? Do we just renew his contract indefinitely? Any other club would have sacked him years ago.

• Fos Williams: sacked
• Russell Ebert: sacked
• John Cahill: not renewed at 58yo
• Mark Williams: sacked
• Ken Hinkley: you’re not a TrUe BeLiEvEr if you don’t want him to coach forever

Hinkley, in all likelihood, will be retained as head coach for the remainder of this season and probably beyond. He badly needs a premiership this year if he is to cement his legacy as anything other than a failure. Our club has announced it's lofty ambitions - it needs to prove it can walk the talk.

It's too early to tell how we'll finish this year. At the conclusion of round 9 in every season since 2012, the eventual grand finalist has had a percentage >130 6 out of 9 times. All 3 exceptions are Richmond.

We are not Richmond. We are at 120% right now. We have injuries. We have excuses. Our best is good enough. Our worst...

Does Hinkley has what it takes to get his team to a premiership this year? It's possible, but the Richmond blueprint will be very difficult to follow. Port, under Hinkley's reign, do not have the credits in the bank to suggest they can do much better than previous seasons, let alone win a flag. We are barely performing above our own mediocre average.

We will have to see out Hinkley's season - including the horror shows like today. There's room to be optimistic - we managed to beat Geelong in finals after being belted earlier in the season. We can turn it around somewhat. That said, anything other than holding the cup with a prison bar clad Jonas on the dais GF day is a failure for Hinkley. Cup or bust.
It's not "cup or bust" for our hierarchy and board though. It's stability and risk aversion and not rocking the AFL boat.

32,000 true port adelaide supporters at the game used their voice for a win.
real port adelaide supporters.
the anti port adelaide supporters sat on their keyboards and barracked for a loss. They are not port adelaide.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why our culture is cooked.

A casual supporter base for whom 2010-2012 blew a collective fuse — “little club from Alberton”/“battling underdog punching above its weight” — so now making finals every few years is seen as a miraculous achievement in line with your Freos, St Kildas and Gold Coasts.

Not sure exactly what to think right now TBH but I reckon we’re downplaying the importance of having Butters and Duursma in our side quiet a bit, These two just bring a whole other level of energy into our side that players like Bonner, Farrell and Drew could never do unfortunately. Having Lycett and Houston out last night also didn’t help, you put those 4 players into the team and you can’t deny that it’s miles above what was on the field last night.

Port tried last night (although got going a bit late) and were just outclassed in the end. I haven’t lost hope just yet but hearing Ken say stuff like “we’re good but not great yet” after losing to Bulldogs, a side we were much better then last season doesn’t fill me with much confidence, TBH I’d much rather he say that we’re struggling because of the players we’re missing. Maybe he doesn’t want to be seen as making excuses for losing

The list is interestingly placed. Of the old guard, Jonas and Boak are playing well enough to think they could still contribute to a strong side until the end of 2023. Hartlett, Gray and Dixon are past their best and are more likely to see their form trend-lines slide rather than rise from here on. That leaves us not quite ready for a premiership tilt because of the lack of a reliable, high-scoring key forward and probably two gun midfielders short. The only way I see this changing is through Georgiades, Butters and Houston being back playing in this side quickly and finding incredible form.
I would go as far as to say that at a list level, our premiership chances in the next 2-3 years rely most on: Lycett, Boak, Butters, Wines, Houston, Georgiades and Aliir.

2021 Port Adelaide after round 9 match: 5th (Potentially 6th pending West Coast), Won 6, Lost 3. 120%

2004 Port Adelaide after round 9: 4th, Won 6, Lost 3. 118%

So 14-2 and a flag from here, then.
