Nothing will ever sum his tenure up more than the McGovern kick after the siren game. Loss in a close game against a good team under the bright lights at Adelaide Oval in an annoyingly familiar way but this one taking the complete piss with the absolute unparalleled laughable memery of being beaten in literally identical circumstances to the final the previous year.

I reckon the Dawson goal after the siren comes close, Donuts even had a laugh after that loss.

Listening to Roo and Ditts this morning and they played part of Hinkley's press conference. Ken talking about how the last four weeks have been difficult because Port were playing against teams that were "cream of the crop".

Roo then talks about how strong Richmond has been, how Collingwood was on a winning streak and Melbourne/Geelong being top teams.

Ken safe for another week.

The amount of morons in the media surely exceeds the normal number of morons in the general population per capita

tbf given how long it has been since essendon have won a final, losing a prelim (the first time anyway) would be reasonably to be seen as success because they would have won at least one final to get there.

Tactically limited - his tactics only work against poor teams because our players are man for man better than them. If we play a team with equal competence we lose because of his tactics. That's why he has to go. Not because he's a d..kh..d or other personal traits.

Sorry to be answering my own post but I should expand on this because its the truth bomb that Hinkley supporters have to come to terms with. Players don't stop working or running and if they do its the fault of the coaching staff. We don't have an inferior list to other teams. The competition is artificially made as even as possible while granting favours to Melbourne teams whenever they can.
And the comp will remain somewhat even as long as there is a draft so tactics and strategy is key to winning.
So if you accept the premise that its not the players who play well against poor teams but play badly against good teams the only option is the coaching.
It entirely explains why the disparity in the amount of times we lose to Top 8 and Top 4 teams.
