We don't know the family person circumstances, maybe she is that angry that its best she doesn't or maybe she has other commitments, i don't think it matters, what this highlights is the need to back the playing group 110%

Even if they fumble or make a silly skill error (okay maybe there are limits)

Yeah absolutely, and I said a couple of times of course she has every right to be concerned for her son and has probably got very good reason for not attending the meetings, but it was still a very poor choice to go on radio this morning.

Particularity to an opposition club president.

The club has handled this very professionally imho. I think this mother is frightened, not because of our actions last year, but because the media has run a very very good scare campaign that has painted an untrue 'worst case scenario' situation.

Exactly, you only have to go by the timing of her going on radio first thing this morning after obviously reading the charge sheet yesterday. The AFL obviously arerunning a very strategic plan to turn EVERYONE against the Essendon Football Club and this is further demonstrated by the Presidents meeting taking place today. Timing is everything for the AFL

Isn't it amazing that all our 'new' fans are so keen to throw in with the AFL.. what a strange co-incidence.

Go home troll.

By the looks of his posting history, he is legit... Not sure if that makes what he is saying better or worse..

Not a single thing to worry about here guys.

I am glad Hurley confirmed with you that he's not interested in leaving.
It's likely that he'd disclose information about potentially leaving a club to the two of you, as in no way would the media jump all over him if even the slightest musing on an internet forum would occur.

I guess I believe the club that there are NO risks to players health and they have tried to do EVERYTHING in their power to reassure the parents and families of that. The club has also been very pro-active to encourage and help every player get independent medical advice etc etc.

I think this is the same reason why the players are flat. they are reading this same crap and starting to wonder what the hell happened. there seems to be no trust and that IS a concern. Hopefully this will all play out in court and then no one will have any fears moving forward.
Given what took place last year that is more down to good fortune than good process. I do not contend for a second that any of those charged wanted to place players in a potentially unsafe environment. I do believe that they all did what they thought was appropriate to make sure everything was safe. In most circumstances that would be enough. I do believe Dank may have a times been a little cavalier and thus the naivety of Hird & Co helped the issue to remain longer than it should have.

The club IMO since last year has handled matters impeccably and responsibly. They have engaged experts from various points to check for player safety and health, update parents, improve protocols, processes and reporting lines to ensure it cannot happen again.

All of that does not remove the culpability the club has in terms of what happened in 2011-2012.

The club deserves punishment. Individuals deserve sanction, however I think for the most part those who should receive sanction are no longer at the club.

The AFL and media have fueled the hysteria to extreme proportion and for that they should be shameful of the stress it's causing people. However that does not excuse the club from their part in the stress caused.

True, regardless of the facts this story is still only being reported in bits and pieces with many aspects going unreported.

Its a natural human emotion to fear the unknown and to fear for your safety but and this is something that hasn't been mentioned if Essendon really has breached OH&S why hasn't Worksafe been all over the place with a fine tooth comb

Sorry to bang on.. but I don't think enough has been made of this:

This case is very strong imho. I believe the lawyers acting for Hird have prepared a very carefully worded and written application that is highly likely to be successful. This is in complete contrast to that unbelievable rubbish that was dished up by the AFL.

If the judge accepts the Plaintiff's application then AFL facing legal charges.

I know it won't get the proper media it deserves, but it is a very good and strong legal case that is likely to hold up quite substantially in court. Very hard for the AFL to dispute ANY of that writ tbh. Other than the phone call bit, but that is very much open for debate.

The courts are not stupid.. this whole thing REEKS of the AFL trying to push a result before finals and slapping together some laughable charges based on rumours and media scare campaigns. Still waiting for a SINGLE piece of evidence that would hold up in court.

Punishment and sanction that is in line with the offense commited.

This trial (and execution) by media is bloody disgusting.

That is...a very salient point.

1. we'll take it and run.

2. have heard from a mate who did honors work with Garnham that Essendon are now the benchmark for protocols and processes in the sports science field, they've gone from a way back to miles ahead of certain clubs, which I think we deserve more credit for if true (I have no reason to believe it's not)

We should not discourage alternative thought. Education about matters is important and then people, armed with all the information can conclude whatever they want. It's a free world.

Really? I have been a member since April, not yesterday, get your facts right.....just because I don't post on Bigfooty every day doesn't mean I am a troll.

Surely the AFL and Essendon can come to an agreement that won't keep this going on for years and damage our club even more... it has put me right off watching the club that I have loved my whole life.

I don't want Essendon to be the new Collingwood "Its us against them" mentality, we are a proud club and shouldn't have this reputation

How long does an application like this usually take to get processed, just out of curiosity?
