Look I don't want to seem like someone who is turning on the club/Hird etc, but when you hear the interview and see that their children weren't taken care of by a professional football club, then someone must take responsibility. Pretend this was Carlton and not Essendon. Wouldn't you feel sorry for the mother and be angry at the club for letting this occur? In the charge sheet, the AFL stated many worrying things that indicate that the place was not safe for players. The AFL couldn't possibly have made all of it up. Take of the Essendon glasses and think health and safety. That is absolutely unacceptable. If the AFL charged them for negligence, then that is exactly right. i don't agree with certain aspects of the charge sheet, but in terms of health and safety, I completely agree. I feel sorry for the players

I think those who oversaw that kind of environment should do the right thing and step down. The club can then focus on picking itself up and operating like any other football club. Us supporters can also focus on premierships, finals etc like any other supporter

Member since yesterday...mole?

So we have an hysterical mother go on radio and refuses to reveal her identity and goes on and on about the welfare of her son blah blah blah (she has every right to be concerned) and then says she hasn't attended the parents meetings held by the club, and then we have Alex Browne's father who openly admitted who he was, who has attended the meeting come out and say he is satisfied that his son isn't exposed to any future health risks. For **** sake lady attend the meetings!!!!!

Thought this was an excellent read.

http://blogs.crikey.com.au/northern/2013/08/22/essendon-football-club-v-australian-football-league/

It's by Martin Hardie, a law lecturer at Deakin.

Pretty much covers exactly why Essendon are following the path they are.

What is this brilliance?

WTF are the AFL doing? Have the received no legal advice on this?
I know ASADA are a rabble, but if this is true, the AFL cannot use anything from the ASADA investigation or the Switkowski review to try and stick the charges. They will literally have nothing to go on.

No, he is MadBomberman in a new guise.

Seriously people, take a chill pill here. I know it's a shit day, but attacking each other will only make it worse.

Just take a deep breath.

it's already been said, but it doesn't matter whose mumma it is. I have already expressed my doubts about the call's legitimacy, but that doesn't matter either.

She said herself she hasn't actually been to any of these meetings did she not?

She's being fed media hyperbole like everyone else, 3 parents have gone public and have stated they have full confidence in the club, one hasn't, she'd be in the minority i'd say, but we move on...

Has come down to what i POsted a few months. EFC would avoid loss of points and draft picks, if the club agreed, to key officials being suspended. Looks like any resolution/mediation has flown the coop. We need to win BIG in the courts.

I will post again - The most important priority is signing uncontracted players.

No I have been on bigfooty since 2011. I cancelled my previous account (MadBomberman) because of all the trolling. Just because I don't agree with what the club and some of the senior officials are doing doesn't mean that I am a mole or trolling

Apologies.

I just think it's gotten to the stage where it's all or nothing. If Hird steps down, to the media and the general public he and the EFC are assuming guilt. And we'll put up with the unwashed calling us drug cheats for the rest of our days.

I really don't think Hird has anything to lose here. He's all in

Trying my hardest not to sound harsh but I think it's the pessimistic, prejudicial, ignorant, media influenced posts that you keep posting.

For ****s sakes. Don't blame the parents in all this.

There are some seriously shit blokes in this thread, a bit disappointing really. It's the sort of thing I'd expect from Carlton scum, not Essendon fans. To attack a parent for caring for her son is a disgrace and anyone doing it should be ashamed of themselves.

Until either the parent or the player out themselves, or all the parents sign an open letter to the radio station saying it wasn't them we won't know for sure if it was staged or not.

There is a world of difference between Hird resigning/sacked, and being suspended by the AFL.

And if by chance the AFL find an obscure regulation at the President's meeting this afternoon, to strip us of points, we won't be playing the last 2 games of the H and A Season.

guys it doesnt matter whose mother it was

You are 100% correct, but without absolute proof that it was a parent calling we are relying on MMM (the media) verifying who the person was. Without actual proof the of the person being a parent that are as good as anonymous.

On the other hand we've had multiple parents willing to speak openly in support of the EFC, without hiding their identifications.

It's strange that one anonymous person's opinion can hold so much more weight with the media than multiple happy parents.

Got a girl at work who knows Hurley very well to text him and ask what is with this bullshit rumour, will keep you posted when he responds.

He's almost certainly going to text back saying.
"Yeah, nah, not keen on Essendon"

Damien Barrett, go and get a chilli-dog and ignore the next couple of pages this thread?
kThx.

I look forward to Sam tearing you a new one tonight.
Almost as much as the courts will.
