Not a complaint given the Dogs were blessed to get access to him in the first place, but at the time it felt ridiculous that the bid for Darcy came at pick 2 in his draft, compared to pick 4 for Daicos.

Still a ridiculous scenario at draft time given Daicos' junior career, but it's becoming more apparent that his talent and value isn't miles apart from Daicos, provided he can maintain current trajectory.

Love watching him play. As others have said, once he fills out and puts some more size on he will be an absolute nightmare for opposition sides.

Darcy Jr is a right talented young fella with extraodinary athleticism and physical flexibility for his dimensions. I dare say he is a smart unflustered bloke too by the way he deals with on field challenges. A rippa.

He's so much a better player potentially than his awkward clumsy father.

I haven't heard him speak, but hope he is far less annoying than his dad.

Luke was an AFLPA MVP at his peak though

Isn't English out of contract this year and looking at a massive 900k+ contract... Can the dogs afford both, would they even want to keep both?
Yes - especially with Lobb probably out the door, ditto Smith

Yes and no

He already did, barring a season ending injury in the next couple of weeks. It wouldn't have sat right having Darcy win it anyway as a 3rd year player who had played matches in the previous 2 seasons.

I guess I should rephrase, would you want to spend that much on both of them?

You'd end up with 3 players taking up half your salary cap
The salary cap increases by 45% from 2022 to 2025.

I don't think many fans have grasped just how much this changes the landscape. For 3 players to take up half the cap they'd need to be on around $2.9m each and nobody is paying that much to one player, let alone 3 players.

Without a doubt. Darcy’s flexibility in multiple roles makes him a dangerous proposition.

The bigger question in 2 years time is would it be worth paying $1 million each to English, Darcy, Naughton & Jamarra because all will be close to that mark.
