Peter Gordon on ABC Melbourne, just made an interesting comment.
He said that:
"If there is insufficient evidence (that he took it within 24 hours of the game) then he wouldn't have a problem, but if the evidence goes the other way then potentially he is facing 2-4 years which is unfortunate."
Murray's legal team will obviously try to establish this 'line'....so to speak.
& even if you are proven innocent...you are still guilty.Thats so Un-Australian. Dont you know its guilty until proven innocent?
Why would you want a player who would do that so close to game day or even on it?
Both would result in poor performance.
If it was a day or 2 before the crashing and fatigue would be very high, not exactly conducive to performing at an elite level in pro sport is it?
If he did it game day then fair dinkum...by the last quarter he would be shot to shit.
cornes is a world champion flog but he isn't far off the mark by saying there is an issue at the club.
3 positives in 4 years. what other club has had that?
I can just see how this pans out. Admits to coke, says he has anxiety and such drug was to help him deal with the anxiety that comes with playing in front of 90k against Richmond, gets a year. Club rookie lists him for a year, ineligible to play in 2019.
I think Cornes is completely and intentionally making this out like it was deliberate performance enhancement. It's more likely to have been something ala the above or lingering from the night prior.

Wow...what a coincidence!I think Essendon had like 35 in a season once? Correct me if I’m wrong

Just thinking through potential mitigating factors, not making any value judgements or pretending to be an expert in performance as related to illicit drugs. Except to point out they are banned on game day because the are considered to be performance enhancing....not the opposite as you are implying.
If a positive test to illicit drugs is not on game day then its an anonymous first strike (although hes lost the right to anonymity in this case). If its on game day then its a WADA ban. If theres a minute lingering residual amount on game day then surely theres an element of doubt as to which way this needs to be ruled upon.
I don't. He can go get a normal job like the rest of us. Hopefully for his sake he doesn't get caught on drugs because it will be an automatic sacking in the real world. Unlike the AFL industry that feels obligated to stand by them.I feel for Sam. I have zero faith in ASADA and WADA in terms of their capability to accurately investigate things without external pressures affecting outcomes.

So can someone answer my query, or at least attempt to?
Can the club have points taken away based on this?
Do you actually like American Mustard?I don't. He can go get a normal job like the rest of us. Hopefully for his sake he doesn't get caught on drugs because it will be an automatic sacking in the real world. Unlike the AFL industry that feels obligated to stand by them.
Peter Gordon should stick to ambulance chasing. The categories are "in competition" and "out of competition". Presuming the sample was taken after the game, he is in the former. There is no question of ASADA needing to provide any further "sufficient evidence" other than the positive test. Automatic 4 years. It is strict liability.Peter Gordon on ABC Melbourne, just made an interesting comment.

If the sample was taken after the Richmond game and he disappeared that before the b sample could be taken that could be construed as admission of guilt and immediate suspension. He played the next 2 games didn’t he against Sydney and Brisbane.Given the b sample is taken at the same time as the a sample that sounds like BS to me
