Remember when Champion Data rated Aaron Hall as a better player than Patrick Cripps, Joel Selwood and reigning Brownlow medalist Tom Mitchell? That was this year.

They are the worst sports statistics company in the world. They have absolutely no understanding of the sport they cover whatsoever or what makes an effective player.

Look at all those absolute spuds who are above him on the list! It's almost as if Getting a lot of the ball results in Turning the ball over more often
There's about 500 players on AFL lists who would like to be on this list. I thought it was the all Australian squad.

Obvious agenda is obvious.

Nice try though Socrates.

Walsh is a gun, as are the other three players mentioned in the article.

If we're basing the award on who is the best performed rising star throughout the year, Walsh is in pole position.

Walsh is very good but he is more of an accumulator like Marc Murphy. I might be slightly biased but even Kane Cornes says Stack could be the true number one.

Walsh definitely doesn't have the hurt factor of others, but what he has been able to achieve as an 18 year old is insanely good. And if you're basing your opinions on what Kane Cornes says, I'd rethink your decision making.

Anyone who knows football can tell that Sydney Stack is a better player than Sam Walsh. He's getting 20 possessions a game from half-back, can mark the ball, can run through players and is running at an unprecedented 80% kicking efficiency for a first year player.

I love Stack but if you're going to be picky and exact on Walsh, then Stack is averaging 17.2 disposals not 20.

Walsh's turnover stats are in the ballpark of Dusty, Shuey, O'Meara, Harmes, Sloane.

All Walsh has to do is continue his current form and the award is his and it will be well earned.

An argument could be made for Rozee for sure as playing forward is much much harder but Stack, while having a great season, is playing the easiest position by far.

The only thing highlighted in this thread is a Richmond nuffy crying because no ones paying enough attention to a player on their team.
No not at all, just discussing the article and champion data my friend.

I guess none of the 18 clubs know football because he was overlooked in the entire 2018 national draft.
Draft positions are irrelevant now. If it was redone clubs would be climbing over things to get their hands on Walsh, Rozee, Stack, etc.

Still too early to see which of them will progress most from here, but at this stage I'm happy to not trade Stack for any of them. He certainly presents the best value by far, cost nothing.

Don't think anyone would trade away the top few. You'd be happy with any.

Ha ha ha, how funny is that. Hope this doesn't turn out like that stupid Rance thread.

Now you're just being silly.

Every club passed on Stack due to concerns outside of football.
Well weren't they horribly wrong? Just because he grew up on the streets with no parents doesn't mean he is of bad character.

I'll come back to this stupid thread after the Rising Star award.

Second thread op has made about all recruiters are dumb for missing Sidney stake. WELL DONE Richmond recruitment staff, you obviously have come along way from ...........

I'm just amazed the recruiters are still prejudiced.I thought that all stopped when Matt Rendall got sacked.

Either way Stack is a great story, every club bar Richmond did not want him. Let's see how the season pans out before we start polishing medals. Same goes for Pies and Cats in relation to premiership race.....Richmond 2018 comes to mind.

Another massive SOS fail.

Walsh is a spud, as evidenced by BF ITK posters who've swayed me. I just can't decide between Sydney Stack or Tarryn Thomas as to who SOS SHOULD have taken at 1.
