Player Watch Sam Walsh is ranked 16th in the AFL for turnovers when under no pressure

Well weren't they horribly wrong? Just because he grew up on the streets with no parents doesn't mean he is of bad character.

I love SS but christ mate, its early days. Appears to have a rocket of a personality so wouldn't be beyond the pale to see a slip up at some stage

Walsh oozes leadership too, so Carlton have a great clubman as well as a super-talent

Anyone who knows football can tell that Sydney Stack is a better player than Sam Walsh. He's getting 20 possessions a game from half-back, can mark the ball, can run through players and is running at an unprecedented 80% kicking efficiency for a first year player.
He's had 20 possessions 3 times.

Another massive SOS fail.

Walsh is a spud, as evidenced by BF ITK posters who've swayed me. I just can't decide between Sydney Stack or Tarryn Thomas as to who SOS SHOULD have taken at 1.

Well I want to assume you're joking but despite a severe points issue TT wouldn't have been up for grabs.

Yes, he's averaging 17 possessions I think at over 80% efficiency. No other first year playa comes close to that efficiency.
This is so cringe. Sydney Stack plays off half back running in straight lines hitting up uncontested players, he’d ****ing want to be running at 80%.

Walsh is literally breaking records as a first year player and all people want to do is bring him down. Aussies and tall poppy syndrome, honestly.

I loved Stack at the start of the year but honestly the way Richmond fans and the media carry on about him is too much.

Walsh is very good but he is more of an accumulator like Marc Murphy. I might be slightly biased but even Kane Cornes says Stack could be the true number one.
He’s just not though. Guarantee you haven’t even watched a full Carlton game since rd 1. Every fan looks at his numbers and the ground he covers and think he’s just a vanilla accumulator but honestly, just watch him. Spins out of tackles, always gets his arms free, reads the ball well in the air, his kicking is starting to come on and yes - he is also explosive given the opportunity. Wait til he actually works on it in a pre season.

Actually watch him for a few weeks and your mind will change. Guarantee it.

Walsh is breaking records because he's the only 18yo to play midfield every game because of the deficiencies in SOS's list. If Stack was playing mid, he would have better numbers imo.

If harry McKay played for Geelong he'd have kicked 247 goals this season.

This is fun.

Actually spent the majority of the year on the wing. Went into the midfield against Brisbane and had 32 touches.

As I said watch some of his games.

Look at all those absolute spuds who are above him on the list! It's almost as if Getting a lot of the ball results in Turning the ball over more often

Now let's convert it to a percentage of total disposals, and also work out the percentage of contested possessions they get, to gauge a degree of difficulty. Will make their turnover totals look far more "reasonable", guaranteed.

Not one of the 18yo in 2018 draft have Sam Walsh's freakish combination of aerobic endurance, football skills and leadership qualities and that's a fact.
Sam will do his best work later as an inside midfielder when he develops and matures athletically.
He'll be an elite midfielder in 2 to 3 years time.

Remember when Champion Data rated Aaron Hall as a better player than Patrick Cripps, Joel Selwood and reigning Brownlow medalist Tom Mitchell? That was this year.

They are the worst sports statistics company in the world. They have absolutely no understanding of the sport they cover whatsoever or what makes an effective player.
Going into this season Sam Lloyd was rated as the 6th best wingman. Champion data should just be ignored

Oh wowee, just another circular thread by Socrates so he can talk about Richmond and how good Stack is. :drunk:

At least spare this crap from the main board......Bay 13 - goooooo nuts.....

Well to be fair there isn't much else for Richmond fans to gloat about. Dynasty only lasted a year.

If the draft was re done tomorrow based on a small sample size at AFL level from some players selected where would he go? 1? 2? 3?

I'd be tossing up with Rozee but it's not like he'd slide outside the top 3.
I’d have to say 29 sounds about right.
