It was on the news last night

Where have you seen/heard that this particular property has been searched on numerous occasions? First time the coppers have been seen on this road, it's always been off to the side into the reserve/golf course ,or miles away in Canadian or Enfield.

Definitely hasn't been searched previously. The police have apparently contacted them prior to this search but it's the first active search of this property.

The owner of the property, who wished to remain anonymous, said police contacted him about three weeks ago asking for permission to access his land.

The man said officers returned on Wednesday where they told him they were going to perform a line search along the road.

'A dog found something on the banks and they came up and asked me and my wife to make a statement,' he said.

Also, I haven’t looked at this thread for a while so excuse me if this a repeated question, but remember that member that told us at a river they found some items that seemed out of place, so they contacted police. Was that in Durham lead?

Going on my theory that the body is in the Yarrawee; the last ping only relates to where the phone 'died', so it may have been in the dam all day?!? We know the Coppers are not investigating an accident gone awry, but a murder, one that may well have been premeditated and thereby may have also had all the 'next' bits worked out in advance; where to dispose the body, phones, watches etc, and the timing of them, when the roads are quiet etc.
Or it's a spur of the moment attack where by everything else that follows is by the seat of his pants, throwing the body in the back of his vehicle, maybe he had some tarp to wrap her in, and he just drove in a panic, doing things as he thought of them. Fifteen minutes after Mt Clear he'd be on the road to Mt Mercer he might have thought of the phone then pulled over at the very obvious dam and thrown it in.
Assuming he had some local knowledge went down to the Yarrawee, threw the watch into a deep section, went further in and tied, weighted Sam's body and placed her into a bend of the river. Headed back onto the road and at the bridge turned left and went back to Scotsburn around the southern side of the mountain.
Just my thoughts, I'm leaning towards the second unplanned opportunist attack........

Refined my theory a bit from the earlier one although it does suggest I've been maybe 'on the right track'...

#5251 will lead you there

You ever tried to get a card out of those things? I don't think the cards still being inside is a good indicator as to whether or not the phone was thrown or place

Maybe the media has deliberately deleted it. By the way ...It is understood the phone had been located by a police tech detector dog.

Had to have been tossed from the road else why throw it just 2m from the edge?
I reckon a well-place piff from the driver's side window would easily clear those bushes - the dam is . Apparently the dam was much fuller 6 months ago, so it would have gone in pretty deep at the time. It's unlikely he would have wanted to stop in full light and get out of the car to scramble over a couple of barb-wire fences to get to the dam.
And if he has thrown it, I'd wager he was driving north and just veered over to the right side of the road.

When it was thrown, four months ago, the water level was much higher, so it was actually underwater until more recently when the level receded.
I don't understand, why would you throw her phone and any other personal items into a dam, knowing that the water level will drop at some point and her phone etc will be found ? There are plenty of places to dispose of it and never be found or smash it to pieces

I can't imagine many people are thinking of evaporation when they're covering up a murder

You wouldn’t consider the water level dropping if you’re in a hurry to dispose of something, and anyway, “at some point” could be many years later

Been a very dry autumn Lake Wendouree is about as low as I have seen it at this time of year since the drought (yesterday should have topped it up a bit). If you are throwing a phone into a dam you are hoping that the water is deep enough to cover it. Don't think there was much thought about the pros and cons of throwing the phone in the dam he just wanted to get rid of it.

Months ago, they have the 'evidence' we found, and they've circled their search back to where we found the items, like they're excluding other areas. like Enfield for instance. And every property along that road is on acreage, there are no back to back neighbours, and this is a quiet road, it's not teaming with traffic!!!
I remember your post, you were “good” and didn’t divulge what you found

Can’t of been thinking otherwise they’d of removed the bank/id cards
What difference does it make? Removing the bank id / cards just means there is more extraneous stuff to leave fingerprints and DNA on, and to subsequently hide elsewhere. Whoever put the phone in the dam clearly wanted to dispose of the whole contents of the folder. The question is why this dam? Was it just convenient? Or planned? They either didn't expect the phone to ever be found, or didn't care if it was found later, as long as they disposed of it.

Associate of mine has also confirmed everything was Sam's, this bloke is one of Mick's oldest mates.....

As to the "throwing it from a car", no-one suggests that POS drove past and turfed it out the window, more like he pulled over, got out and tossed it over the fence/blackberries into the dam..

I just can't fathom chucking it in a dam so close to a house? And during the day?

I would be worried about the owners hanging around working on the dam, irrigation etc. Plenty of mine shafts to throw it in. Someone's dam would be the last place I would want to get rid of someone's phone and personal stuff. What intrigues me, is not a lot of care has been done getting rid of SM phone etc, as the cards were still in there and thrown into someone's dam. But it seems more planning and care has been taken to hide SM body. I still wonder If someone else has helped and If police can link POS with being at that dam. Clearly though someone is talking to police with precise details

Or could be the opposite? Actually wanting it to be found (eventually), as a misdirection? Turn the phone on briefly (so it pings) at 5pm in a place nowhere near the crime scene or where the body is to throw police off the trail? Could be a red herring?
Interesting all her cards, ID were in there, as though someone wanted the police to know it was her phone
