When we were kids.
I understand, but just pointing out she was always a pretty tough girl.

To my eye, having run with a few of the Ballarat boys of the 90s, the photo of her just prior to her heading out does not show quote “a slim, fit woman” who regularly runs 20k which of itself then implies she runs at least 5k a few days per week in addition to allow her to cope with a Sunday 20k long run. Even if she’s a slow jogger type, her appearance does not match the media description. Perhaps just media hype/bad journalism but if her family actually believed she was doing this as a routine, then maybe her 20k runs were a cover for other activities.
This.

I was told she'd only been running for a couple of years and she walks / runs.

With all due respect she is a middle aged overweight woman in her 50s who had probably already been running that morning for a period of time, most men could overpower her.
She isn’t overweight.
And with due respect I know a lot of so called strong men who are actually as weak as piss when it comes to the crunch compared to what she was like, and apparently is still very much like.

I'd imagine it would be hard, almost impossible, to be having extra marital affairs in a 'small' city like Ballarat, especially when you're reasonably prominent due to your business. I know there are rumours, but doesn't really ring true to me.
The remaining facebook group is a real comedy show, would be a good laugh if it wasn't such grim circumstances. Appears to be a lot of people out there who will do anything to get media exposure.

We're all built differently. I regularly run 10ish km, could probably do 20 but I prefer to run shorter distances faster. I also lift a bit so I'm bigger than a lot of the other runners. If you saw me, especially a grainy distorted CCTV still, you probably wouldn't pick me for a runner.

?
You’ve clearly said you need to switch them.
So you have them set to noise cancellation (as that what you’ve bought them for)
You sense (somehow) someone is coming up from behind you so you reach for your phone or watch to switch over to transparency mode so you can hear if they actually come up to you?
Or I guess you can hope adaptive mode has a stalker mode.
Is that what you’re suggesting?

I've got the Pro earbuds, I use noise cancelling if I'm on a plane, I don't use it if i'm running. Not that complicated.

I suspect you've never looked at the start line of a marathon.

I disagree. I’m in running mums group and many women look like this and are very fit.

The camera is looking downwards which might not give an accurate picture of her body type.

51 is the average age of menopause which tends to alter your body shape too.

You don't get gussied up before "going for a run" at 7am. Back in time to get ready for the brunch, wearing a healthy glow...
I understand what you're getting at but wouldn't she have at least fixed up her hair or worn some nicer Lorna Jane style gear. I'm not suggesting she'd be macked out but it doesn't look as though she was meeting up with someone.

I agree with you. With some training most people of all body types and BMIs can finish a marathon, so yes agree undertaking an endurance challenge such as a Marathon or Olympic distance Tri etc is open to all types which is why track and field and distance running is such a terrific sport.
I was making the observation that the media describe her as specifically as a slim, fit woman who regularly runs 20k implying that’s a part of her lifestyle. To be able to run 20k say on a weekly basis without injury you require regular shorter runs at least 3 times per week. Cycling for a few hours on a Sunday for instance is very different to how difficult it is to run 20k.
The majority of people you are describing who are mildly overweight have set completing a marathon as a goal in itself and not necessarily part of their lifestyle which is what is implied in the descriptions of her.
And yes, agree the image might be distorting her lower body.
So agree with most of what you point out.
Thanks for the reply

I thought that too as 20 km regularly sounds almost elite and even the 5 km Parkrun regulars I see often look scrawny. But it could also be the angle and lighting in the photo combined with the baggy singlet that gives that impression.

Almost 100% true.

If she is a victim, its likely her perpetrator is a gutless adrenaline fueled evil coward who would have also likely had the element of surprise on a middle aged woman in a remote area, who in addition had likely already run several kilometers in and experienced some level of exhaustion and fatigue.

In that setting, I stand by what I said earlier, most men could overpower her.

Agree, regarding women can look like this and can be fit - no doubt. Main point was the media’s description of her which isn’t accurate, and is mildly interesting, just as an observation.

I agree too, fit women come in all shapes and sizes. But 20 km regularly sounds like an entirely different league of fitness. So I can understand the theory that maybe she wasn't really running 20km. But it doesn't look as though she was going out having an affair either. I can't come up with a theory, nothing makes sense.

Is anyone else also questioning the "didn't go to the annual family holiday due to covid" reports? I know that covid bouts can still be quite nasty but do people even test for it anymore? My experience is it's hard to get a hold of the tests at the pharmacy nowadays. I live in Brisbane, maybe it's different in other States?

I really don't see the relevance of discussing fitness / appearance of Murphy in regards to this case.

This can be what happens in an information vacuum. But I agree, we don't need to continue to examine Samantha's weight.

Heaps of people I know test when they get sick, especially if they're likely to be seeing older relatives.
