These are my selections and likely bets for this weekend.

Friday night Moonee Valley - The Lanz - build your bank for Saturday ;)

Saturday Caulfield
R 2 - La Chasseuse - just failed last time in an under-rated run when just pipped by Cancanelle who looks the goods.

R 3 - Lucky Secret - hopefully will get some decent odds, being aimed at the Cadbury Guineas

R 5 - Message Bank - looks to me the winner based on sheer consistency and WFA scale seems to help

R 6 - Lucky Unicorn - Has been flashing home in the sprints and you would expect will enjoy this trip. $3.30 fav currently

R 7 - Tenshi - over from Adelaide, a little ripper this one. If you're looking for a formline narrowly lost to Growl last year over 1450. Betsy Pie did beat her at her first attempt at 1600m though. Chuck in Warshawsky and Betsy Pie for moral tri!

R 8 - Race of the day, Hofmeister is well weighted, good barrier and knocked off a fine horse in Gallic last start. You can make cases for any of the top 6 or so though.

Saturday Gold Coast

Just the Royal Asscher-Publishing double.

I'd like to clear up that these are not 'tips'. I got told off the other day when someone backed one of my selections and it didn't win.

Im hoping to try and have a seperate casual thread that are for the sole purpose of offering opinions and discussion about races rather than tipping mugs who come on here sure things. Hell I'll even allow 'aftertiming' ;)

Have followed CATCHMENT through all of its starts and strongly believe it will be in the finish come Saturday if it gets a run at the GC.

Its first start was hard to judge as it was blocked for a run in the home straight and did look 'flat' as most horses do on the first race day.

Its 2nd start the jockey is solely to blame hence the reason for losing the ride, looked a good thing and instead of taking an opening elected to wait and never got a chance to have a real crack.

Last start it fought on strongly and looks as though it will need 1200-1400m.

The 1200m he gets Saturday should be the ultimate test for him.

Other bets:

Im a huge fan of the filly Cinq Rouge, so much so i am going to say i think it will take out the 2 yo's race. Watched it fight like a bulldog on Cox Plate day to hold off Royal Ascher for its second start and saw it win easily against RA in its first start. Last weekend at RH it was blocked for a run and was hardly knocked around after Williams saw the race out of reach. This week is a different story with a good barrier, hope she comes out and settles handy early. Oliver knows his stuff and will work his magic along the rails.

Theres my run down, also like WINFORU in the Inter Dominion.

Kaphero in R5 at the Gold Coast looks very well placed here, unlucky 2nd last start and has form around Can Lago and Murray Downs. Currently $3.40

Have to agree on Lucky Unicorn, 1400m looks ideal. $3.30

Will be having both in a racing double at $11.22

Also like Anais, Gold Edition and Solo Flyer at this stage for the GC.
I like Cocinero and Hoffmiester at Caulfield.

At MV tomorrow night, R3 Ascolti and I think Temporalay can upset the mighty Lanz ;)

:thumbsu:

You got told off?

Ummm tomorro Melbourne Race 4 number 3.
Helmie, following me around with your lame 14 yr old text message comments really is sad and I feel embarrassed for you, everyone can see it. Grow up.

You're in love with The Lanz lockyer.

Can you make sure the casual thread is easily identifiable pls, dont wanna upset Starz by breaking any rules in his thread, especially on weekends. lol

seth

If i may i'll add something for Friday racing. (tentatively as i have no idea of markets yet)

Kensington race 5 - number 7 - Memorisation.
Zabeel mare (love the Zabeel mares :) )
Saw her put a good run in over 1600 3 starts back in a Warwick Farm maiden in only its 2nd start.
Thought i'd follow it over more distance being a Zabeel.
Last start won its maiden, also 1600, didnt see the race though.
This race is 1550, a class1, suprised to see it not put up in distance since 3 starts ago, but hey i'm not the trainer.
Keen to see how it goes, might bet but no idea of the market.

Mooney Valley race 3 - number 6 - Ascolti.
Think it can break through here, better barier, good jockey.
Again don't know the market.

here are some of my tips for weekend:

Tonight: Moonee Valley Race 1 N2 Quilter

Tomorrow: Caulfield Race 3 N3 Lucky Secret, hopefully $1.50 plus :thumbsu:

Caulfield Race 6 N5 Benedetti

Gold Coast : Magic Millions 2YO Husson Lightning
Magic Millions 3YO Publishing (bit concerned as first time travelling clockwise)

Adelaide --Interdominion Harness: Winforu

GREYHOUNDS:

Meadows: Race 7 N2 Flashing Floods

Wentworth Park (staying race heats)
Race 2 N1 Kibble KruNcha
Race 3 N2 Miss Porsca

I'll have a small interest bet as I love the Z's too

i heard David Hayes has a horse going around at caulfield tomorrow that according to some, "will not Lose" In David's opinion it is a very handy type.

I think it's R1 N5 Listen Here.

Can anyone help?

Ascot tommorrow.

Race 1 : No 8 Bint Lemair 5th on debut at last start, however it was a good run coming from last on the turn and showed some promise.

Race 2 : No 2 Northwater Boy. Was impressive in last preperation and first up this time was 4th behind Centrum, meets it better in the weights, will be better for the run and Paul Harvey is back and more often than not boots home a winner with his first ride back from a break.

Good luck with her mate. I was going to come on to tell you it was running as I remember you asking me if it was coming to Melbourne a few weeks back.

You wouldn't think so but Ron Maund has been saying it was Byrne's ride that did her in last start, and that she was fully ready to run out the 1350m. Beadman will give her every chance but the barrier is a shocker.

Caulfield race 8 - #3 - Blutigeroo.

Been working nicely up to this distance which he has a good record at.

-

Gold coast

Publishing and Cinq Rouge for me.

-

Werribee race 8 - #2 - Depends.

Rogie/Lloyd (i think?) by Octagonal, won here on debut, didn't see the race, so i'm assuming it's one of Lloyd's.
this a class 2, the others didn't take my fancy, except maybe #7 Ready for Luck.
Gotta follow Lloyd's boys
