I agree with you with regards to Newton, there are others in that price bracket however that could serve as very decent stepping stone types.
Dom Sheed included?

Another option in that 200k+ range IMO.

Rather than pick Newton or Cripps I'd rather save the cash and get a lower-priced rookie and spend the extra $70-80k on a premo.

I mainly have this view because of how often I've been burned by those $200k players previously.

Backline: As mentioned in previous post K.Simpson is overs and is going to decrease in value early others are better to pick like Hodge, Taylor etc. Wasting money with B.Jacobs, wouldn't recommend picking 2 guys around the $250,000 mark.

Mids: Very solid don't change.

Ruck: ?

Forwards: Very unique forward line sort of what I did last year and it paid off. Love the pick of D.Smith I think he is in for a big season.

Overall: Solid just a couple of small tweaks is in order for your backline.

Simpson will play the whole season and average 95ish like every other year just want a solid guy in defence and he's it. MJ could replace him though.

Rucks were Minson and Goldy, whoops.

But yeah few tweaks still to come like you said.

If I had to pick one I would pick Cripps. Just got a feeling Newton will turn into V.Michie like last year, I picked him round 1 and got ride of by round 3.
I have two rounds to see if he is going to do a Michie and if he does ill downgrade to the best performing rookie that i dont have, considering I can swing a defender or forward into the mids if i wish. He only had a bad score this last round because of the 50 he gave away in a very close game and still scored well.. he is no patty cripps but ill roll with him come round 1.

In terms of using the money elsewhere im pretty happy with my entire team.. i might use it to upgrade wines possibly but that would be it.

not sold on goddard or edwards in the backline. might be looking at who's playing round 1 to switch them out with if i can. will probably have saad on the field round 1 though.

i see the bottom 4 midfielders as a way to make some money throughout the season. fairly happy with the top 4. bench is subject to change haha.

happy with rucks. had nic nat and giles for a fair while, but thought i better go for safer options considering there's only 3 of them this year. no clue who to put on the bench.

first 4 forwards have had alright preseasons. hoping lecras can stay injury free for once though, he's let me down in the past. admittedly i wasn't sold on bonts last year early on. had a nice string of games at the end of the season. now with his luscious man-locks i couldn't say no this year.

I think your forward line needs a lot of work. Have a look at who's available this season forward, rank them for what you think will be top 10 and I'd only be looking at these guys in yr initial team. I question if LeCras, Gunston and even Bonts can out do the likes of Deledio, Goddard, Franklin, Martin, Bartel, Bennell, Swan, Roughead, Harvey and I'm sure there's a couple I've missed.

I haven't been on any forums at all this year, so this team is basically done off my own observations and analysis. Surprised as to how close a lot of it is to the consensus on here.

Not bad.

I'd tend to agree with leaving Gaz out at this point, with no preseason games at all. However, if you do I reckon you've gotta find a way to get 4 $600K+ premiums in the mids.

What do you see Geary averaging? I reckon there might be a few with more upside around the price.

And ... Wallis? Needs to break out with a change of role. Lotsa POD risk. If you're in the mid-300's for M5, Wells is only $361K

I don't have the guts to get Lumumba, but I reckon he could pay off if Roos can find a way to use him better than Nafan.

I'm going around in circles now.

With GAJ not playing any NAB games, I just can't bring myself to pay $734. Also lets me get 4 real premos, and not have to punt on someone like Wines.

Which defender to leave out from Simpson/Smith/Gibson/Newnes/Docherty?

Newton, Cockatoo or Heeney?

Which 2 of Selwood, Sidebottom, JPK?

Doing my head in.

A pretty good Ablett-less team, i wouldn't go for Cunnington or Lycett personally.

I would probably downgrade Newton or Cripps to a cheaper option and upgrade Kelvin Cunnington to a Griffen/Wines and Lycett to Swan (cash permitting) but otherwise pretty good.

Here is I Dream of Heeney - Version 1 after NAB - 36.5k left over
Defence is thin but my structure is almost there.

I like the bennell pick, would have gone the same if there was that bit more cash in hand, but will be an upgrade option.. think he might get a little more attention to start with if gaz isnt playing but this is questionable speculation that im telling myself as i cant get him haha

Are you rating lumumba? the start to the year has been promising, and i have had him also, but keep getting cautioned by people. Do you think the new role (or more focused upon) will bump him 15 points?

You're not Robinson Carusoe there mate! :D
Nic Nat is underdone, they are still cotton balling him. They will unleash him season proper, but I'm off Nic at the moment. Was bullish about Lycett, but his recent poor performance I can't explain? Maybe look elsewhere for those two?

I thoroughly enjoyed Polec and Tyson last year.
Hoping for more of the same from the likes of Van Berlo, Sheed, Cripps this year.
All have presumably rock solid job security, and should be able to make 200k.
