Changed around a few things. Had to take Milera out as I don't really like Adelaide's draw this year for a young forward. Going to be tough I think.

Houli out for Rance.
Greene out for Hall.

My biggest struggles have come from rookie picks and having little idea on what to do.

Hey all. Thoughts on this squad? I've got $116,300 left. I had Petracca in, but heard he is out for the start of the year. Replaced with McCarthy.
Anyone else finding this year a tough year to complete a team and be happy with it?
My team hasn't changed in about 4 days. Which is completely unheard of this time of year.
I've been tinkering, but I keep coming back to the same team.

Just like some thoughts please
Gone with McGovern as Mckenzie is back which I reckon will free him to play around the back line and push up the ground allowing more marks and kicks and intercepts
Just not sure about the mid
Reckon Hanley could have a decent year now that beams is out for the year

Why is everyone so keen on Mccarthy from Geelong?
Highly rated, finally fit after a run with injuries, had a good NAB, spot in the forward line for him at the moment. That'll do me

Can we really pick either of the Geelong rookies?

Won't know the Hawks V Cats full teams until when? Saturday night?

It's a risk, but watching McCarthy closely, especially against Collingwood his talent was quite evident.
Although defense played 2nd fiddle that night he constantly led to good spots on the ground, had strong hands and was able to deliver well into 50 or on goal.

There is definitely a spot for him with a few injured/suspended/out of form players.

Ruggles I don't know as much about, but winning the B&F for Geelong in the VFL and being 22 could see him fill in the space left my Thurlow. He looked better than some of the others like Cowan.

We do put a lot of faith in Scott (which is unwise), but sometimes you just gotta back your own reseach as to whether they deserve a spot.

Great side mate. Good solid structure with some nice PODS in there too. Love the Hanley pick in particular. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Moore, if you could somehow find an extra 5k and upgrade him to De Goey in my opinion that would improve your team but yeah great work overall

Be awesome if I could get some feedback. Can't bring myself to load up on defence with so much uncertainty this year, so getting 2 big guns and will have to waste trades to finish my backline.
Have I missed anyone obvious?
Are gaz and Fyfe must-haves?

Thanks in advance guys

Jelwood has made me consider a few things but think I'll pass for the time being.

Quite a solid team. I would look to drop 1 of Franklin, hall or gray to a rookie priced player (menadue could be a good option) and use that cash to add one or two of Gaz, Pendles or Fyfe. I would also look to add Weitering to the defense as there's uncertainty over Ruggles/Broad/Byrnes JS and i think if you only go with 2 keepers in Defense, you are going to need to have rookies with good JS to make up for that.

I think you should downgrade Franklin or S.Gray and upgrade your defence. I think you can get away with starting 3 rookies but 4 may be pushing it slightly. The likes of Bartel, Roberton and maybe even Yeo could be decent picks hopefully within your reach depending on how much cash you have leftover? Your midfield is good even without GAJ and Fyfe. Personally I'd like to see 1 of them in your team but if you don't think either fit then back yourself in. Pendles could be an option too. Overall it is a solid team but i think a little tinkering could improve it.

You've obviously made a clear decision to go weak down back, that's up to you.

But I just don't feel you've really made the most of the saved cash elsewhere - you should be picking safer options elsewhere given the huge risk down back.

So guys like - Gray, Cripps, Wines, Gray and even Wingard and Franklin are good picks in their own right, but when all of them are picked and combined with your weak backline it leaves you rather exposed.

All the picks are good, just very risky for mine.
