With Round 1 done and dusted, we now move to the second round of the season. Some teams have begun the season on a high, whilst others are shaking off start of season blues. We see these two clubs face off at Bears homer, The Stadium in the Sky. The Bears are coming off a win over the Wonders whilst the Bombers suffered a loss at the hands of the Gumbies. Can the Bears go 2-0? Will the Bombers suffer another heartbreaking loss??
Round 1 Recap:
Bears
The Bears went into Round 1 against the Wonders firing kicking 8.5 to the Wonders 2.0. Their performance tapered off a bit in the second when they were kept to only a goal. However the Wonders only managed 2 of their own so the Bears went into Half time with a comfortable lead. They kicked 6 goals in the third quarter to increase the lead but were kept to 2 in the last. They still emerged Victors over the Wonders by 21 points. Vice-captain Doctor Gero was their best with 15 disposals, 9 tackles and a goal. He was supported by Cadaver and Thomas2 who kicked 6 goals between them.
Bombers
The Bombers clash against the Gumbies Round 1 was a see saw affair for the first half. Bombers equalled the goal tally with the Gumbies with 5 goals apiece, but down by 2 points. They went into half time with a two-goal lead, hoping to build on that momentum in the third. However, with their two off season recruits too keen on harassing Dragons and Hawks players, they were unable to and managed only 1 goal in the third to the Gumbies 6 goals. In the 4th quarter, they outperformed the Gumbies with 10 scoring shots, however only converted 50% and lost by a total of 8 points. New captain Tony Lynn 15 played a terrific game in the midfield with 26 disposals, 6 marks and a goal, as did ex captain KohPhi with 19 disposals, 8 tackles and 2 goals. Co-captain TheCoach16, ruckman Matty411 also played strong games around the ground.
