I went to a bucks party in Sydney in the 90's. We told the groom to be that we'd be going to a fancy restaurant, so he'd better dress accordingly. So he rocks up to McDonald's in his best suit and tie, while we appear shorts, T shirt and thongs - he was suitably embarrassed.

But here's the kicker. One of the guys had been there since 1pm, and by the time we arrived at 8pm, he had just started munching on his 19th big mac. I nearly vomited at the thought of it!!!!!!
