I did do the night shift at the local mail sorting depot for about a year or two before.

11pm to 7am was my shift, i actually didn't mind the job you just did your thing, had a bit of banter with your workmates etc.

There was no angry customers to deal with either, any job that doesn't involve dealing with the public is ideal for me!

So yeah i guess that explains my nocturnal posting hours at times. There was a supermarket where i live that used to be open for 24 hours.

I went in there in the wee small hours of the morning once. Obviously the store being quiet was an advantage, but on the flip side there would hardly be no fresh fruit and veg available.

Basically all they got was the leftover stock from the previous day, i never did it again and they stopped doing it eventually. They obviously just weren't getting the customer numbers to warrant staying open all night.

Most of the conveniences stores that are in with the service stations stay open 24 hours though, there's two actually within walking distance of me if i need something at any hour of the day or night.

It actually feels like the crazy world around us has paused for a bit whenever i stay up late. It just feels like you have the world all to yourself at times.

Outside of family and close friends i'm kind of sick of the human race, sometimes staying up late just helps you clear the head a little bit.

On the flip side of that getting up at the crack of dawn can also feel good. It's nice to get up at 4 30 going to 5am knowing that you have the whole day in front of you as well. Horses for courses as the old saying goes!
I had a friend who did it for 3 years while going through uni. Loved it, had a good wage and just played his music while he worked.

Only downside was going to bed so early

A picture here of the Las Vegas main strip in 1984. This just happened to come up on my Facebook feed.

I think when visiting the USA Las Vegas very much needs to be part of the travel itinerary.

It's changed A LOT since 1984. Still adult Disneyland, basically, but a whole lot more clamped down.

The sports books really blew my mind, it's possible to watch seemingly every televised sport on the planet at once.

Braklet Hurricane Milton is coming to Florida very soon. People have even been told to evacuate their homes!

It's nothing to mess with, but on the other hand, the media LOVES to whip up every weather event as Armageddon in order to keep the clicks and ad revenue humming.

What worries me more than the weather is the reaction of all the citizens before the storm lands. The stores sell out of milk/bread/eggs almost immediately, and the gas stations are drawn empty. Makes it extra fun to evacuate.

I know some thrill seekers like extreme weather, but it's not for me! I like my bland cold and dreary Irish weather.:laughv1:

I've been through a few hurricanes, luckily they usually lose steam by the time they get to us, but not always.

Not fun to lose power for 8 days, especially when you're on a private well. (After Hurricane Fran, we opted to spend the $$$ to hook up to city water.)

Yeah, like the quiet of night, also radio stations play uninterrupted cruisy music which is something I always enjoyed.
Afternoon/evening shift was always good. I occasionally worked 1-2 hours overtime, which was good for my bank balance (I was a uni student at the time). Driving home at 1am whilst eating Hungry Jack's...good memories.

For a gambler like me (horses and sport) it’s heaven. Loved it.

For a non gambler like me I'd be looking for a ring rd around it but i would love to do the drive from LA to Vegas.

I'm not a gambler, but I adore the craps table. (Yeah, I know that makes no sense.) Best odds in the house, and 90% of the time very social, unless someone starts betting against the shooter.

damicky philreich are we getting Oliver this trade period or what? Just need to absorb his salary, reckon he'd be a blast on SFA and will make more sense than half the people on here

This guy?

Vegas is definitely set up for gambling, but you can have a ton of fun w/o gambling yourself, even on the casino floor. Just watching all the antics is a blast.

If I was an American, I would be more concerned about Hurricane Trump

The other thing is that there are so many entertainments... something for everyone. Caesar's Palace is mostly a high end mall with shops, tony restaurants, bars, shows, etc..

The best thing about Vegas is The Killers come from there

Raz was given some mentoring from a Sweet FA Legend
Raz has only posted 12 times, was the advice to not engage in the match thread

just seems counter intuitive to have a 100 plus poster reduced to not posting, still if that's what the legend has advised

You will have to ask Raz why he has only posted 12 times

That is not a directive from anyone associated with The Rats
