Joe Lynch was a famous actor in Ireland. He was in a soap opera based in rural Ireland called Glenroe.

He played the role of Dinny in it, but i think this image really does represent what a typical rural elderly Irish gentleman looks like.

I'm not sure i've ever seen an elderly Irish farmer who wasn't wearing a flat cap to tell you the truth!
