SIREN SOUNDS FOR THE END OF QUARTER 4
Coney Island Warriors : 10.8.68
Gold City Royals FFC : 11.7.73
=====================================
It was clear early on that both these sides would be playing meaningful Qecember Qooty, and this matchup was no different. A hard fought first half had scores level and then after muscling their way out to a 14pt lead in the penultimate quarter, withstood the Coney Island fight back (including some individual brilliance from CakeEater) to ensure they kept stacking wins.
Keys to Success
1) Ruck Battle: As with most of the numbers between these two, it's close everywhere you look. In their last encounter, GreyCrow took the chocolates over spudmaster, winning HO 11-8. He boasts a slightly bigger lead of 21 hit-outs in their 17 game comparison, however, and will look to ensure his team gets first use of the Qooty this Sunday. Adv: Royals
2) Disposals: Neither team cracked the top 10 in disposals in S38, preferring to share the ball around and that seemed to be a successful strategy. For the Warriors, Tonga Bob 321 and Ocha905 with 318 led the way, whilst the Royals bellcow man GreyCrow 341 touches and his compatriot @manicpic amassed 346. Both teams full of unselfish players. Adv: Even
3) Goals: Unsurprisingly, these numbers are also close. The Filth Wizard has snagged 52 big ones to date in S38, followed closely by the S37 FRED medallist Brenton Davy, who notched up 50 goals but has been known to go berserk when it matters most Adv: Even
You'd be a fool to bet on the outcome of this match, yet I will give you a prediction anyway. The Warriors did finish in second, however the ladder was so tight that 2nd and 7th (conveniently Warriors/Royals) were separated by only 1 win (and let's not talk about the Royals 4pt penalty here). This is a tightly run competition, and despite both teams hot to trot AND the warriors playing at home, I'm going to give the edge to the team with the runs on the board to do it again, even if those 'runs' were 8 seasons ago. Don't blink though, the Warriors won't let this one go without a fight.
Early pundits have the Royals to win away again by 12 points
