Actually whilst on the topic of cricket, can someone please help me understand why my captain decided to bat first in the semi-final last weekend when the only 2 times we've done that this year, we've lost due to lack of batters in the side.

Surely one of the best things about being a March baby born so close to St Patrick's Day is how it allows us the double delight with celebrations - depending if your birthday is before or after the 17th, you celebrate one and then the other

And if anyone dares to try organising a birthday thing on the 17th, it's a very easy no as surely we're entitled to enjoy both days separately

just in case it is really hot on day 2.
everyone who has played cricket long enough knows that avoiding fielding in the stinking hot is by far and away the highest priority.
My captain elected to field on a 40+degree day because our gun bowler wasnt going to be available on week 2.

This was in about 2003. 10 guys still havent forgiven him.

The highlight was a bloke getting there late griping it was a bad toss to lose as he saw us all getting stripped to field, he saw the looks on 10 blokes faces and said to the captain you did not f'n choose to bowl , tell me you didnt just do that in a tone like he'd caught his wife shagging his best mate.

Yeah very true, but lucky for us we fielded day 1 for 30 overs still, and Day 2 was cooler, much much cooler : (

As a bowler, I don't hate your captain an awful lot for that, I mean strategy is strategy but 40 degrees of heat does really make things just, pleasant. Though do love a bit of respect back for the bowler, I mean we do the most work...

Didn't really make a difference for us anyways, all out 90, they picked up the runs end of Day 1 and we called it mid day 2, 150 runs behind.
