There's a difference between being fit and well enough to perform at a high level for 5 days. It's likely that all of our pacemen will have to bowl around 50 overs each for this Test.

Exactly. Get the feeling we will regret taking in two risky propositions.

How about the fact that in 80 FC games against ordinary attacks half the time he has managed just two hundreds and this comes when Victoria are successful..I rate his bowling as a "tie down an end" type but his batting is not great at test level. That said he has this test and I wish him the best of luck:thumbsu:

Screw how many hundreds he's scored. Have a look at how many point saving and point securing knocks he's played for us over the last 3 or 4 seasons. He's saved our bacon or been a matchwinner on multiple occasions.

Sure, his batting average isn't anything to start creaming in your pants over, but then Michael Clarkes average at domestic level wasn't anything to write hime about when he got picked to play in the national side.

Given the injury concerns I'd be happy if we have Magoffin replace McDonald. Need that genuine 4th option in case one of Siddle or Hilfenhaus have problems. Magoffin, with his height and bounce, won't be that dissimilar to Stuart Clark and we know how he went over there last time on their pitches.

Difference being Clarke didn't look out of his depth, he showed his potential worth from the get go;)

I don't mind McDonald in the side, his 'tie down' bowling isn't too bad, but long term he can't be in the side as a medium pacer who bats at 8. Needs to get runs soon because his bowling will get worked out soon enough.

I'm not trying to run the bloke down, but I think some perspective is needed against some of the tyre pumping that a few Vic supporters are engaging in. James Hopes is surely putting forward a decent case if the allrounder is something we 'have to have'

9.15 am local: Good morning and thank you for joining us for the opening day of the second Test between South Africa and Australia in Durban. Let's cut straight to the news doing the rounds this morning. Both teams have retained their line-ups from the first Test. It's nice and sunny at Kingsmead and that makes for a promising start.

Hopefully the boys can pull through again.

Toss: Australia have won the toss and they will bat first.

Cmon Hughes, come out and spank the Saffies. Maybe it'll get their coach to close his mouth.

Morkel too, all of a sudden he think's he can push the 20 year old around. He's got another thing coming.

Weather: You wouldn't want to plonk yourself at Kingsmead right now because the humidity is a not-so-funny 83%. There's also a 30% chance of afternoon showers. At the moment, it's blazing hot.

Any word on the toss? As far as I can tell it's starting at 7.00 AEST, which means the toss should have been held 15 mins ago.

Edit: Nevermind. It might help if I read the preceeding post in full before asking stupid questions. My bad.

No wickets lost so far, thats good.

I almost got caught out with the start time today though.

Not much movement out there so far, it looks like we could have used a spinner certainly a 4th specialist bowler.
