Edit: pretty sure it was churchill who once said that anyone in their 20's who is not a socialist has no heart, and anyone in the 30's who is not a capitalist has no brain.

Nah that was Briand after he got kicked out of the French Socialist Party.

Getting back on track .........quite like the changes this week

If Moran does in fact play at CHF I'll be most interested as I think his best chance is as a FF or CHF .......or eventually replacing Stevens in a BP

As long as he doesn't ruck ;)

Reilly going is a big deal. I don't think it's a message to the team, so much as it's a message to Radar.

And he doesn't dispose of it badly, just the opposite. He just hasn't been getting enough of it, or winning contested ball.

He's got the body of an inside mid, and the muscle of Goody. Lets hope this pisses him off. I'd like to see him angry.

Good luck, Radar, I want to see you step up, cos if you don't, it will be a shame to see you in a collingwood jumper next year.

perhaps you're right.

I'd always heard it attributed to Churchill but that makes some sense.

Churchill and Reagan are perhaps the two most over-cited people in history for quotes they didn't say. Churchill was dead by the time Briand made that statement.

Really? Not when he's holding one of these...

And Griffin injured his hamstring.
i saw jimmy sellar on rundle street

what have you ever done that's so great?

Update: Shirley out, Reilly reinstated
7:49 PM Thu 21 May, 2009

Shirley's appeal against a two-game SANFL suspension for rough conduct was tonight unsuccessful. Brent Reilly, who would have missed out if Shirley had been available, now returns to the 22.

Ruckman Ivan Maric has also been recalled to the 22 and first-year player Jared Petrenko is the omission.

Petrenko, Tony Armstrong and James Sellar have been listed as emergencies for Saturday’s 2.40pm clash.

Adelaide trains at AAMI Stadium on Friday from 10am.

The team is:

B: Johncock, Rutten, Otten
HB: Doughty, Stevens, Symes
C: Knights, Goodwin, Mackay
HF: van Berlo, Moran, McLeod
F: Porplyzia, Walker, Douglas
R: Tippett, Edwards, Thompson
I/c: Reilly, Vince, Maric, Dangerfield
Emerg: Armstrong, Sellar, Petrenko

In: Maric. Out: Petrenko

Pretty self explanatory!

I see, i'm happy with us bringing back Maric and giving Petrenko a spell in the SANFL. And i'm satisfied that Reilly remains in the side after Shirley's failed appeal or whatever.

I'm happy with the changes

Maric's inclusion gives us a better structure and enables that extra full time tall up forward, hopefully that will be Tippett

Petrenko needs a spell and to go back to the sanfl and rack up some big numbers and eventually come back better for the experience

Radar has caught a bit of a break and needs to cash in on this fortune

I think it's a take off of a pre-revolutionary France thing which was "those who are not republicans when they are young have no heart and those who are not monarchists when they're old have no heart?"

And I unreservedly accept that award.

i'm disappointed for shirely seems a hard worker and does his work for the team now after 7-8 yrs neil has decided his position doesnt exist anymore on the field  Must be hard for him and he seems pretty modest about his career, when hes actually been really good for us.

Reilly back hey? Wonder how many people traded him out of their dream team already :D

I feel bad for saying it but I'm not disappointed at all that Shirley isn't in. When Judd gets 45 touches against us I'm sure I'll be eating my words though

Well its not like he stopped Gary Ablett ;):p

Re: Reilly dropped!! (but Shirley in pending SANFL Tribunal)

ok guys....... i can't name my source... but i saw jimmy sellar on rundle street today, i got excited and looked at him a lot so i think he knew i was a Big Footy poster, or was just wondering why a 25 year old male was excited by him, so i think that's why he's pushing for selection................

can anyone confirm??

Are you OZ's version of the nerd talking about the crystal to the basketball players in the back of the bus on the ESPN ad?

Yeah, considering he was a late draft pick that was not considered a highly rated player for most of his career, it's kind of amazing to see he sits at #14 in the all-time list of games played by a Crow, with a pretty heady list of players ahead of him:

Andrew McLeod 312*
Mark Ricciuto 312
Ben Hart 311
Tyson Edwards 297*
Nigel Smart 278
Mark Bickley 272
Simon Goodwin 246*
Nathan Bassett 208
Brett Burton 164*
Graham Johncock 154*
Rod Jameson 153
Ken McGregor 152
Michael Doughty 150*
Robert Shirley 141*

* - still on the senior list.

He deserves congratulations for forging a career out for himself that anyone would be proud of, coming in with limited weapons.

Unfortunately, much like a player who retired with 11 more games than him, I can't help but feel that the game has moved past him.

Agreed, see here for my appreciation...
