Agree he has been down lately. I think he offers more than some with his pace but I guess could understand him being left out.

Army has been at his best when he has been given a negating role.
Wonder if Mick might use him and Curnow to shut down a couple of the Swans mids?

Kreuzer not fronting up isn't as bad as may first seem to be the case.
A loss no doubt, but not the end of things by any means.

Casboult would now have a pretty good idea that he's likely to play and can prepare accordingly.

Not sure why but Warnock seems to put his best games forward when Kreuzer is not available.
The fact we now have a marking forward and wrecking ball available, won't hurt us either.

McLean in for Menzel, Armfield the sub due to flexibility.

Loved the smile on McLean's face toawrds the end of the game on the replay!

Is this Kreuzer stuff for real?

Even the footage we had last night was of a limping Kreuzer arriving at Visy.

Even without the op, he would have been struggling to get up.

Sorry to intrude on the Blues thread, but to give some insight in to ground sizes (assuming perfect ellipse):
MCG 160 x 141: 17,718 sqm
Subiaco 175 x 120: 16,493 sqm
SCG 151.5 x 136: 16,182 sqm
Etihad 159.5 x 129: 16,160 sqm
Simonds 170 x 115: 15,354 sqm
ANZ 160 x 118: 14,828 sqm

ANZ is as long as the MCG but 23 metres narrower, and by far the smallest ground in the competition.

That doesn't favour our game at all.

The more ground space the better for The Blues.

Depends on the game plan. I happen to remember a certain Jetta goal in last years prelim where he ran 3/4 of the field with no one in front of him. Garlett could do the same job :thumbsu:

Can't wait to see what Sydney do at the selection table on Thursday night.
With guys like Jetta & Hannebery taking injuries into last weeks game, and Bolton & McVeigh would have to be sore after the game, I just can't see them taking a risk with Goodes who hasn't played for 10+ weeks.

Major obstacle will be curtailing their talls - Tippett, White, Mumford and Pyke.

Yeah agree, Roosy made an interesting point re: Goodes, if he does play as a sub that means Jetta plays a full game based on 40 minutes of footy the previous week, and missing a huge chunk of the season.

Do they drop a tall, all of who are fit, for a mid???

Take into account Bolton, McVeigh, Hannabery who limped through Friday night, and even Rohan, who is coming back very slowly, the fact that have played Geelong and Hawthorn (twice) in the last 3 weeks, and they are lumbering.

Not doubting Molly at all but if Kreuz did have surgery, Casboult comes in for him.

Question is - if McLean is fit, who goes out?

I'll probably be burned at the stake for suggesting Army but to me, he hasn't been able to recapture his form from earlier in the year where he was absolutely electric. Seems to have dropped some pace as well. I know most players carry injuries and I think this is Army's issue at the moment. Doesn't seem to have the same tenacity at the ball either.

I haven't been able to identify the role he is currently playing either. Can anybody shed some light?

Army did a great job on Ellis. He stays in to mind one of the swans midfielders. Maybe Jack?

Army needs a role to be at his most effective.
Could play on Rohan should he hold his spot.
Could play as a defensive forward on Malceski as he has done in the past on guys like Birchall & Hurn
Could even tag someone like Hannebery or Jack through the midfield.

Reckon he stays, and we'll make no more than 2 changes.

Armfields speed will be needed for transition defense, Swans love to clog it up in opponents forward areas and then use their aggressive running and speed to create fast breaks, Armfields ability to chase/pressure from behind will be vital in these scenarios.

If McLean is fit maybe Menzel makes way but I hope not, will be great education for him to play in these big finals.

Scotland may also come under consideration to make way if McLean is fit.
