I thought crowds at Alberton were actually up on last year?

I've no information to compare to assess this. But even if so it wasn't a visually significant increase.
Mind you the game v the Calves would have favourably distorted the comparison as it added about 5,500 (mostly Power fans) in.

But surely that's because those who were going to watch Port in the SANFL were already watching Port in the SANFL, there wasn't too much of a change except in so,e personnel.

Yes it's pretty clear that's the way it has gone. We've perhaps lost a few "No AFL in the SANFL" people. Perhaps replaced by "I'm interested now they're our reserves" people.
I did think there'd be more of an influx of the latter, but I can't even get Mrs Powerstufff to come along. At least she now asks about the various AFL-listed players though.
