And this time he and the team will be prepared. At 193 CM Berry is an okay option. Think I'd prefer him in the mid field though roughing up the Bont

Berry should be in the middle on Libba / Bont. Agreed.

We have Zorko and Lyons playing defensive roles. Don’t need another defensive mid

Matho was a liability last week. Every kick was a blind up and under resulting in a turnover. Robertson for medisub, at least.

Froggy for Gardiner - he is not fit.

Leave O in the ruck. Payne for McStay, and mix and match as the game unfolds.

Do not know if Birchall is fit, but Maddern would improve us, espacially now Kiddy has settled in down back.

Ah Chee in if fit - Fullarton just not up to finals footy yet..

A lot of changes, but these are strange times.

  • Lester in for Gardiner(Injured).
  • Payne in for McStay(Injured) with Adams playing forward.
  • Robertson/T.Berry in for Prior(Omitted).

B Rich Andrews Lester
HB Starcevich Payne Coleman
C McCluggage Berry Robinson
HF Zorko Adams Bailey
F Cameron Daniher McCarthy
R McInerney Neale Lyons
I Fullarton Birchall Cockatoo Robertson/T.Berry
Sub Dev/TBez

If we get exposed down back switch Adams back there for Lester or Payne. I think Gardiner will struggle to get up for this one, he's not moving well at all after hurting his knee against WC and has zero confidence in that shoulder. Lester is a good like for like and should be an upgrade on Gardiner's current form. Prior isn't contributing much at all, bring in Dev or Tom Berry to provide manic tackling pressure and whichever isn't selected can be med sub.

Hopefully McStay and Ah Chee can get up for the prelim if we win this week and help straighten up the team.

Like Adams up forward and Payne back.

In replacing McStay all we can ask for is a big unit to hit the pack and bring the ball to ground. Any marking is a bonus. Whom out of Payne, Ballenden, Lane, Smith x 2 or other likes to hit the pack hard?

Maybe Lane seems to have some aggression about him. I know super young for a Tall

Really need someone who bring the ball down not allow them to mark it.

I really like the idea of Berry forward against the Dogs ,even though it didn't work in a match where nothing much worked.

He'd bring real pressure and strength . I think we're asking too much of him to play a major M/F role given his prep. It was only 2 or 3 weeks ago he couldn't get a kick. I'm presuming Ah Chee doesn't come up.

If Berry goes forward then we need to bring Robertson in to play defensive mid against Libba. Gives us more midfield rotation cover as well and we can send someone forward if we want to switch Berry back to middle. That makes our midfield bat deeper which I like.

In saying that, I think Berry started showing really good form + aggression from that Fremantle game onwards. I think we need to send him back to the middle and cover the forward line with another tall - I'm leaning on Lester in for McStay and plays defense, while Adams goes forward. If Gardiner doesn't get up, we just bring Payne in. Between Lester/Payner/Adams, whoever clunks few marks and kicks one or two get to continue in the forward line.

If we're getting pumped, defense will be under siege anyway and we can send this second tall (natural defender) back to play the loose man. Russian Roulette.

I think playing Lester forward is our best option as it affects the rest of the side the least. Think it'd be crazy to move any of Andrews, Adams or Payne forward, also think people have forgotten how Archie and Ballenden go when they've been given the chance. Hopefully the coaches stick to their guns and back in the system that's had us top 4 the last 3 years, knockout finals certainly aren't the time to swing the magnets and make big changes to the gameplan.

Gardiner was too proppy and this is a win or season bust game. It's been a few weeks already and he just doesn't look right. Fages should have a word and manage him out if he's unfit. Give the spot to someone who can run out the entire game, we have one waiting - Payne.

Agreed, should've added if there are injuries then make changes. Payne for Gardiner would be an easy one if he's deemed not fit.

Seems the move to twilight hasn’t been as simple as was reported. Would think it would have been announced if it was straightforward. Unless they’re still waiting on clearance from the QLD government to even get the Bulldogs in.

Maybe we are being justifiably difficult and not agreeing to twilight.

The game should suit us as it's our home final, but the opposition are whining and using covid to get the first win in the game.
