Question to people who are more in the know.

Is Woosha down on the bench and Rutten in the box? Might sound silly, but I feel the transition is already taking place. Slowly, but it’s happening.

When the players come to the bench they don't seem to interact with Woosha, might need to watch the bench this week to see if that is the case or if the camera is simply missing it.

If so the 'transition' is also happening at Hawthorn, Richmond, GWS. And occasionally at Port Adelaide, Adelaide, Melbourne plus I'm sure a few others. Generally if you're looking hard for something, you'll usually find it, whether its there or not, if you know what I mean ;)

Apparantly have Michael Lombardi with us for a week to work with the various areas of the footy department as an external set of eyes.

Heard Tim and Gary speak with him on SEN months ago, really interesting. Havnt read his book yet but it's on the list.

Love that the club is doing stuff like this. Wonder if Tim had anything to do with it.

Except Fletch would retire, Pears did get injured, Hurley was forward and Houli was out the door because he hated him.
Yeah I was going to say, on paper didn’t translate to what happened on the field basically at all.

Hiring him was a bigger one.

How does the sack a legend and not replace him with a former champion?
I dont subscribe to the whole romance and theatre of a club legend becoming the club coach, however I do think Hird was a better coach than Knights. Knights, imo is a good development coach / assistant coach and that's his level. By far the bigger mistake was made by the EFC board appointing Knights over Hardwick on the basis of a better powerpoint presentation and an 'inflated' opinion of the list. They were told what they wanted to hear by Knights and they fell for it.

Hird was an average coach that Essendon fans have fond memories of because he was a champion player and have a **** the AFL attitude

Hurley was a forward under Hird. Injuries can't be helped. All I'm saying is Knights helped bring quality players in, many of whom were young. If he were given more time with the list he may have improved defensively. He said defence improvement was part of his plan. I believe him.

Nah he was a good coach at least. Personally I thought he was very good and would just get better, but it’s all a bit of a moot point now.

To be honest I think you would be hard pressed to find a bad coach these days in the AFL and it will only become more like that as the coaching pathways become better and better.

They are all good and a couple of them are great.
People are very quick to say someone is a bad coach when the more likely situation is they just aren't the right coach, they aren't the right fit for that group at that time.

I agree with you though I think Jim was probably on his way to being a very good coach, we will never know.
