Heard some goss out of the Rockers camp. They have recruited Aker for next season. Someone confirm this?

For season or one off game? that's huge news if it's true.

After Saturday I must concede that it looks like we are heading to division 3, I hope the club keep BB as coach next season as he deserves a full season to see what he can do.

Great win by Springy which keeps them in touch with the top 2 and now puts a bit of pressure on Skye. O'brien is a seriously good player and I suspect would be on good coin.Once he gets his fitness watch out. Bentleigh playing for their survival managed to pull out a great victory against East Malvern and they remain in the hunt. Their problem is that they have only beaten one team in the top 5 and they are going to have beat a few more if they want to play finals.[/quote
o'brien has only signed to play six games for 6000.

I believe they had a whip around at Springy and the Easter Bunny, The tooth fairy and Santa chipped in a couple of grand each for O'Brien.
Fair dinkum, do you think a club is going to part with $6 k for six games. They must be the best run club in the comp if they had a lazy 6 large in the glovebox. You would have no idea what he is on.

The Aker rumour is true I can confirm Aker was approached, and has been apppointed assistant coach to the forward line at Black Rock next season. Will play a few games to qualify for finals - there must be an unknown sponsor tipping in some cash because he doesn't come cheap...

lol.

There is certainly an element of truth to previous posts.
I can confirm several conversations have taken place between Jason Akermanis and the Black Rock Football Club. If there isn't a clash between his 125cc & super kart racing schedule then you will see him playing for Black Rock Football Club next season. Contrary to a previous post - it's purely in a playing role. So fingers crossed and we will be seeing one of the highest profile footballers of all time playing for Black Rock(Jets, sea hawks, lobsters, stingrays etc). Sorry we are looking to create an identity to attach to our football club also hence the nicknames listed.........

Why not chose a nickname like...I dunno, the Black Rock Bombers.
Just sayin'

It's the most logical. Skye are known as the Bombers and we would like to branch away from names associated with teams in our division or even the league.
Oh yeah, silly me.
Another suggestion could be taking on "The Bloods", West Adelaide in the SANFL have the same jumpers. See below:

re: Murrumbeena

i noticed that douma hasn't been in the best players much this year. when i watch beena play oakleigh i didnt see him. I know he won the b&f down there a few years ago...is he still at the club? or is he playing 2's now because he cant crack into the seniors. Beena seem to be flying..

anyone know?

Fairly certain he has just had his first kid and is only playing some weeks on and off

Watched Skye v Oakleigh Districts yesterday. Skye were much harder at the ball and really should have won by more. One thing that stood out towards the end of the game was No 8 Elvis coming off the ground then proceeding to leave the bench and go and have a smoke before his team had finished playing. Speaking to some Oakleigh players after the game and they were not very happy about it. Also a very strong tone coming from them about the coaches son and some of his efforts. May be some trouble down there. Should be a good game between Skye and East Malvern next week. I see Hotton played for them yesterday and kicked 8.

Before the benteigh game i thought they were going to put up a solid fight but ended up getting smashed. i must say i didn't recognize another handful of players out there for the dragons and were missing yap, abela and their #1 ruckman amongst many others. What is happening down there at keeley reserve???

Saw on the clearances today that Abella has requested a transfer back to VAFA (Maybe he should have stuck with his first club he signed at this year in Skye). There was also a couple more in there for blokes from Essendon League to East Malvern

Massive game this week between Southern Dragons and Black Rock. Who is everyone tipping? It seems the dragons are starting to struggle whilst Black Rock remain competitive against the top teams. Can anyone who has played/watched these 2 sides over the past few weeks comment??

yea the dragons are struggling at the moment, not sure why but from all reports injuries is the main one although every team is going to have injuries think the dragons may just lack depth in there squad. didnt catch the game against bentleigh on saturday, but they were missing alot of talls including 1st and 2nd choice ruckmen. they need to bounce back against black rock and confident they will, although black rock seem to be a much better side since rnd 1

Talking to my source from the SFL and they were saying Black Rock's committee will be over turned by the SFL and will be headed up by an SFL board member next season. Word on the street is miss management. What's going on down there anyone want to speak up? SY to stay up 2013;)

Great to see a young Colts player from Bentleigh make such an impressive debut against the Dragons and kick a lazy 10. Granted the opposition was probably under strength but you can only play against the opposition that takes the field.Strong mark, versatile and a reasonable kick. He will go a long way. Hope Bentleigh continues to blood some of their Colts as they have some very good prospects in the ranks.

The SFL has a few holes at the moment and they will want to focus on getting the right people for the jobs.Holdsworth is a huge loss and he has done a remarkable job in getting the SFL back up as a credible competition which will only get stronger. I hope that the Dragons also continue developing as they have been a breath of fresh air into the competition and shows what can be achieved if a group of people put their heads down and do some hard work.

Agreed Bluey, Wayne will be a big loss as I have said before, he is a decent honest bloke and clever, a bit rare. The Rockers need to get a President that can do the job, The big fella would be perfect but he cant do the coaching as well as the Presidency can he??

Agreed Wayne Holdsworth has done an outstanding job. Several posts have been centered around BRFC recently. To clarify - the SFL will not be sending in an administrator to run the club, in fact we have asked SFL board member Darren Scammell to sit in our 2013 and beyond planning meetings. So many exciting things have been documented and the wheels are well and truly in motion for 2013 ie. Auskick, women's team, name change, potentially new jumper design, new approach to sponsorship(2013 packaged are already in place), restructuring at board level. The wonderful thing about all of these changes is that everyone involved within Black Rock are fully supportive and all members are working together to better the club

Abela is weak as piss for leaving midseason. from all reports he was welcomed by everyone and also was named vice-captain/ assistant coach. if the dragons don't beat BR then that will almost guarantee relegation. this is a huge game for both sides so i hope to see some more familiar premiership faces out there to see the dragons get back on the winning horse
