SFNL Division 3 2021

Meeting tonight with league regarding Doveton. From what I’ve heard nobody is that keen to go up to Div1. Apparently a good preso back at Doveton that could help getting players back. Div3 would be ropable if they go down and then some good players return. Big decision for the league looming.
You would think most of the better players would have signed elsewhere by now

If Doveton can "get players back" then why they asking to change div's? Other clubs have had to deal with similar issues...Clayton, East Brighton, South Yarra that I can recall, and they all played hand they were dealt, as hard as it was for them. This Doveton decision would set a dangerous precedent for the League, and if the League move Doeveton down to a diff division, SFNL Divisional footy could be over. Why have Divisions (and a promotion and relegation system) if clubs can just choose which division they wish to play in? its the tail wagging the dog.

They set the precesent letting South Yarra do it and win a flag, such a coward move by the club and league, suck it up for 12/24 months and rebuild, ala Clayton

THey should give a 3 year guarantee to any club prepared to go up, would allow an ambitious young club time to build a competitive list capable of competing a div 1.

So many clubs struggle because they build a list full of big bodied older players who can win a div 2 flag, but these older guys don’t have the time or desire to put in the extra yards that are required at Div 1 so leave. It happens in every comp.

There won’t be a big bunch of eagles players returning. Not Ones players anyway. All the coaching staff and contacts that got the senior players there have all left. A couple of the key people are at other clubs and have players committed with them. A big bunch have retired and who knows, two or three might be talked into going around again. Clearly the money dried up as well. The side they will most likely field won’t be strong in div 3.

current div3 presidents will be fuming.

If the league wants to take pity on Doveton, surely they just leave them in Div 2 and have no promotion/ relegation between Div 1 & 2 for this season.

Oakleigh District might appreciate the reprieve from relegation, getting another crack at staying up in the highest division. If Doveton are seriously that bad they will drop to Div 3 in 2021.

Surely this makes more sense than relegating the Div 2 premier to Div 3?

Also surprising there is no talk on the Div 1 & 2 boards regarding all this, strange having to come to Div 3 to read up on Doveton

Way too much sense for the SFNL

West Coburg Football Club is looking for two separate practice matches on both Sunday 15th of March and Saturday 21st of March.

The games can be played at either home or away venue and we’d like participants for all three teams, under 18s, reserves and seniors.

Please contact our head coach Dale May on 0421 253 024.

Subway has posted this in all four divisions, must not be too concerned with the level of competition :drunk:

I got told this morning that it’ll be division 3 or 4 if things don’t change. But still no decision. And if players return they’ll be banned from finals. Oakleigh and Heatherton up.

If div4, a club will be forced to go to div 3 so there’s no bye. Debt after debt owed and the club is in a real bad spot. Whoever was running the club last few years should be ashamed.
Im from Doveton and totally agree with you they should be ashamed and definitely don’t think any of the players that have left will return as most were getting paid well over there worth and club has no money now to pay them

Or drop south Mornington to div 4 like they should've been in the first place
