conditions like this had to be put in place. not everything is about winning flags - only 1 team per division can win one and yet clubs field sides. this gives them the chance to recruit the "right" type of player / person to their club. couldn't just put them in division 3 and say there you go without punishment. it's not fair to the other clubs in the division or league plus it makes a mockery of the promotion / relegation system. this will hopefully send a message to all clubs about what happens if you neglect your responsibilities.

what kind of numbers have committed to the Eagles Buzz ? As was posted they had 3 sides , now struggling for one must of lost around 50 players

Lucky to be getting 10 at training m8 just received this so the club had been dealt these conditions as well should at least make a few happy cheers

Heavy whack. I think the club would have played in div 1 if they had 2 teams. They have said as much. can't help that 90% of the list has gone elsewhere. The money is only a small part of the issue. The club is starting from scratch virtually with all previous people involved no longer there.

Not much to be gained by whacking them now.

Pretty much all of the reserves and thirds have left.no money owed there. Yeah there would be a few ones guys owed money but the eagles aren't the first club to owe a few games to players. Half a dozen retirements are fair enough but it looks like most of them have just moved on because they weren't going to be strong this year. That's more disappointing than any other crap that's gone on I reckon. They've played in a few good years but aren't willing to give back now.

If Oakleigh and Heatherton have agreed to go up then that’s that.

Huge whack to Doveton which it’ll be very hard to recover from. They’re not in a vibrant footy area I don’t think and they already have a neighbouring club to compete with.

Hopefully they stay on their feet and survive, no thanks to those who have cut and run. There’s been a few clubs go under around Melbourne in recent years and don’t think anybody wants to see another.

So as a past player in this division, I would now be concerned what "type" of players Doveton will now recruit to fill a senior and reserve side especially knowing that you are only a very slim/ zero chance to play finals. IMO the division has been cleaned up quite a bit over the past few years and I would hate to see it now go backwards.

Ok it was but things changed remember the club turned itself around after being kicked out a while ago you seem to be making a lot of comments about the situation if you really want to say something feel free to call into the club and have chat

Will be extremely disappointing if Doveton cannot field two teams this season. Will be another year of SFNL football where once again Division 3 is penalized and forced to play with less teams due to clubs in different divisions inadequacy.

Yes absolutely you are spot on but this is a huge task before they had these sanctions put in place but this is what happens when you basically let a one person run a club and do whatever they want while others sit back and let it happen

In saying that - unfortunately it sums up where local footy is at. Too many players only caring about money. If you are owed $$$ for games but love the club - who cares?
