Speculation Shai Bolton [OOC 2028]

Players association , means nothing

he is the same as another 20 vanilla low impact , non goal kicking midfielders
That’s why he averages 7.5 score inv and Bolton averages 5.5 and double the score launches
He’s one of the best two way running mids around
Not only does he set up scores but his averaging over double the tackles and double the pressure acts of Bolton.
Go look at the past winners of the Brownlow AFLCA and MVP and decide the worth of each

That wouldn't get it done IMO
Anything getting done for Freo really hinges a lot just on where Port and Pies finish. Just having a natural top 10 pick makes any trade a lot more palatable for any good player we are chasing. I'm still adamant at least one of them will miss the 8

Then we walk away.

He’s a nice to have, but not a desperate need. We can cover the role in other ways until something becomes viable.

He’s not someone Freo are chasing hard like Warner.

Bolton has signalled interest that he may like look at a move home. So if it doesn’t work for either side, it doesn’t happen.

Freo will offer fair value, but are under no obligation to be stupid with it.

This is a dumb argument when it comes to an individual players worth. Bolton is incredibly talented and doesn't need this meaningless argument. Richo was 10x the key forward of many premiership forwards... or do you disagree?
That's a dumb argument as well as their completely different types of players.

For sure.

Potentially. Depends how aggressive you want to be chasing down that elusive first flag.

Bolton takes Freo from top 4 to flag favorites IMO.

IMO.
So does Warner though, so we can keep currency and cap for him if Bolton proves too hard to purchase

It's pointless comparing them TBH.
Both completely different players who fit different needs.

Bolton is a highlight reel.
A high impact player who can tear you apart with minimal possessions.

Brawshaw is a gut running midfielder who extracts and is an excellent decision maker.

You wouldn't be unhappy with either.

If Bolton wants to return home (Freo), it will be for overs as he's contracted.
He could be the missing piece of the puzzle for Freo.

Jeez this thread has a bit of everything now

Our Flags are shit apparently
Richo underrated
Bolton isnt a need for Freo
Bolton makes Freo flag favs
Warner is their target and Bolton sloppy seconds
Bolton is selfish
Bolton is overrated
We all hope the pies and port fall miserably

Lets be real here, the only facts are, if Bolton wants Freo, Freo will make it happen knowing the trade expectations. No club lets a player of this ilk slip through their fingers. His current contract means Freo would have to over pay.

Now it's just the definition of overpay.

I think a lot of us feel that an inside 10 + a second R1 pick is the overpay, and are ok with that. That's what we have and can give. That's the Jackson price.

Still need to take a first round pick ourselves either this or next year, so need to keep something.
