Traded Shai Bolton, pick 14 & F3 (Rich) traded to Fremantle for picks 10, 11 & 18

Freo likely to pay 9 + 16. We traded pick 2 for 9 + 14.

What does that equate to?

Pick 3? 4?

Pick 3 + Eagles F1st for Bolton and Baker yes is overs. Thats why there is a need for other picks coming back with Bolton and Baker. What picks is the question. An early 2nd + a 3rd? What?
To us Bolton isnt worth that.

"Aren't worth anything" is an exaggeration, but once a club is seriously open to a trade, the "hold to contract" line is as big a bluff as Freo going "yeah we really love this draft" and seriously talking about the what if a deal doesn't get done scenario.

Reality is Richmond wouldn't entertain a trade for Bolton or Rioli if they didn't fundamentally believe it was in their best interests to get picks for the rebuild. Port wouldn't entertain a trade for Houston if they didn't presumably believe that getting Lukosius (and Richards) while being in this year's draft is better than doing only 1 of those things and holding Houston to contract. These teams aren't doing it out of the kindness of their hearts: they're coming to the table coz they think that's their best move.

"Hold to contract" is a real thing to talk about when teams are massively far apart in value or talks aren't serious. But once the teams seriously come to the negotiating table, there's a reason they did it, and that reason usually means "hold to contract" is a fairly empty threat.
But you don't trade away your best 2 players who are in their prime. Would never have entertained a trade if they didn't put their hands up.

Both were pats of a side that won us 3 flags so they deserve the respect of honouring their wishes. It will get done.

Fremantle holding firm on 10+18 from reports.

So it's either Richmond bends over or they deal with a checked out Bolton who doesn't want to be at the club next year half assing it and dragging his value down even lower, next year we can just get him for one first round pick in that regard.

No pressure on us, we'll just go elsewhere if it doesn't work, ball is in Richmond's court to make it happen, you can see Richmond fans are starting to get nervous too, they know they'll bend over and fold, just a matter of time.

It’s in Richmond’s interest to see this one drag out as long as possible. 10+18 is the minimum we are getting. Why just accept that now?

Go elsewhere then lol. We either keep bolton or you pay the right price. All the pressure is on freo.

We've offered the right price, there's no pressure on us at all, if we don't get the deal we want from you we'll just take our hand to the draft, simple stuff.

Sounds good. Will keep the A grader you can have the 2 speculative draft picks
So be it, no point doing the deal if it's not on our terms.

If you can live with Bolton's value being lower next year and an easier target to bring in when he inevitably phones it in because he doesn't want to be at Richmond, that works.

the thread needs to be changed.

he does not want to go to the dockers.

he has not named a club campaigners
Just like Luke Jackson didn't nominate a club, he reached out to us, hasn't spoken to West Coast at all.

He wants to go to Fremantle, no amount of denial will change that, You don't reach out to a club half way through the year and say "Please get me here" unless you want to go to that club.

so sad when Shai still at Tigerland

did you know Luke Jackson was out of contract?

such poor planning by Freo
It's okay mate, I get it, seeing Bolton in a purple polo by the end of next week is going to be hard, you'll get through it though.

Either that or he stinks it up next year because he's checked out and lowers his value and makes his jump here easier, either way sounds good.

It is every kids dream to play for a team that has an Anchor as their mascot

If he didn't nominate a club, it's either because he has doubts about if Freo can/will do what they need to in order to get the deal done, or because he's hoping to get to the Eagles, but realises that Freo are more likely to be able to do a deal and he'll settle for that.

If he wanted Freo, and was confident they would do enough to get him there, he'd nominate the club.

i posted a reply and it was deleted, lol

tell me if Shai stinks it up next year at RFC how is that a problem??

he still is under contract and we get stronger

Do you want Shai to break a leg??? Are you going to send the henchmen around??

Shai at RFC can visit his family all the time, why would we be concerned??? Bookmakers say we are not in it??

That's not how it works over here unfortunately, he's confident we can get him otherwise he never would have reached out to us in the first place to ask us to bring him home.

Things work differently over here. Here's how it works as has been said many times yet people still choose to ignore it:

"Requested a trade to West Coast" = They want to join West Coast

"Requested a trade to Western Australia" = They want to join Fremantle

The only player that we've traded in of recent memory that actually came out and nominated us was Wilson.

Jackson wanted us the whole time, West Coast was never in the picture, he still never nominated a club.

that is some serious voodoo logic right there

He's getting further and further away from those top 30 player in the league performances of 2022. Will bring his value down.
