9 and 16 for Bolts and few hundred k salary

It’s a heavy draft price to pay ,especially in a super draft but freos time is now and happy to help out the bottom dwelling tigers with some sensational draft currency to kick start their rebuild

Win/win

Pft, you think that's failing to achieve a plan?

Try this one: https://www.fremantlefc.com.au/news/1032994/fremantle-unveil-strategic-plan-for-2021-to-2025

Handing over 9 & 10 for Bolton would be a massive fail. Yes, the club should get in top end talent but they shouldn't overpay. Fremantle aren't good enough yet.

Let's look at what I wrote.

let's not quibble over the details here...it's just an example

The exact numbers were irrelevant to the point.

The point was, given the position that statement left the list managers in, might they be forced to take a 'bad' deal they would otherwise have walked away from.

Sometimes a recent draft pick can go a long way towards a club succeeding in the 'now'. Selwood in 2007 for example.

If in 2006 Port had drafted Selwood and Geelong got Boak, Geelong would only have won the 2007 grand final by 105 points.

Without Selwood it's possible they may not have got past the Pies in the prelim. Who knows pick 9 may be the difference and Bolton may spud it up.
Selwood had 15 disposals, 1 clearance and 6 clangers in the prelim. Brad Ottens was the difference in that game.

Boak had 18 disposals, 3 clearances, 6 clangers and a goal in the other prelim.

We aren't going to walk anyway, it'll go through AFL mediation if need be

Only way I could see us walking is if Richmond ask for all 3 firsts and won't budge, which won't happen

Why would it be going to mediation for a guy who's contracted until 2028? He just remains at the club and has already said he will if it can't be done.

The length and $ amount of the deal alone + the fact we will likely pay some of his wage means we have all the leverage and Freo has none.

9&10 it is

Our leverage is we can walk away and approach other players and clubs with our huge haul of draft capital.

Richmond has the clock ticking with Tassie approaching. It’s not a one way street.

It's funny the way every supporter from each side is talking like they actually work for the clubs and make the final decisions. Most deals will get done and some fans will be happy and others disappointed but speaking personally I would much rather Rioli,Bolton & Baker all playing for the Tigers next year but it's not going to happen and I'm sure we will be compensated for them at market value which the Clubs decide not the fans. :thumbsu:

Yea it’s hilarious reading tigers supporters carrying on about how much leverage they have (we ll just walk away blah blah blah)and then in the very next breath scurrying over to the draft hub board spilling their beans over “all “ the young players they’re getting with first rounders.

Yes RFC can make Shai stay but they well know it ll be the same story next year .. except we won’t have anywhere near the same draft capital, Bolten will be a year older , worth even less ,the Chad becomes the focus of freos trade targets AND most importantly for Richmond ,a weaker draft and missing out on a full year of development of elite young talent , with Tassie only another 2 drafts away.

The whole leverage thing is a fallacy .
It’s In the best interests of both clubs to see this trade go thru, in a manner where both come out satisfied

Interesting to see that people are starting to understand the obvious

Tpp space has as much currency as draft picks

That’s why all these deals will be overs in draft picks , tpp space will also be traded

More tpp traded better picks

Less tpp traded picks not as good

The clock is ticking on most clubs.

There were a dozen that could have had claims this year. The evenness of the comp at the moment means that clubs can jag a flag over this time without being much better than others. Hence the importance of loading up for clubs that have a decent core.

The other half dozen will fill their boots with draft picks, as they should.

9 & 16 for Bolton aka the Tarranto trade 12 & 19. It's 2536pts at equivalent to pick 2.
He's worth more than Taranto even if he was out of contract. Given he's contracted long term he's worth considerably more.

Points are a garbage metric for anything bar academy/father son bids.

I think that with some nonsense late pick Tigers aren't going to use coming back is the "fairest" trade. More than they'd get out of contract I imagine but Richmond have the right to be difficult if they want to be.
