No s**t. Looks like Sydney are desperate to get him. If they're that desperate then they'll come up with the money. Part of their pitch has included "taking care of him and his partner", money to Sydney has never been an issue, the AFL have always made sure they can pay their players, either under the salary cap or by paying their partners.

none of that means that Melbourne won't be paying a good portion of his salary. An in the know Melbourne bloke reckoned $250k/year was covered by Pies. Great, that's only $750k/year contracted thst needs to be paid.

What do crows fans think is fair value trade wise?

Its an interesting year for these kinds of trades, with list spots tight no one really wants picks after 30, so can see some picks being involved alongside Mcadam to get something in the 20's or a player. Think we're all praying Petty or Sparrow ask for a trade back to SA, not sure what that'd cost us though.

McAdam is best 22 for Adelaide and definitely will be for Melbourne.

Unless it's a pick that we'll genuinely use or a player that's also first 22, there's nothing that's worth us trading for.

I'd be happy for him to go PSD and we just take the list spot. He'll get somewhere that will give him the years and salary he wants.

I'm having problems translating this, can anyone else help out?

I can’t see Melbourne handing over a pick in the 20s. I mean even getting something back with MacAdam would be a pick we may not use.
Sparrow and Petty, I don’t see either requesting a trade. Petty is also contracted for 2 more seasons and a player we do at afford to lose. So MacAdam would be the sweetener to a decent pick in that deal.

I understand that you don't really want to give up something significant for McAdam, but your club has clearly made a commitment to him, and you desperately need potent forwards.

What is something that you think the Crows would accept? We're unlikely to have the list spots to take more than two to three picks in this draft, and I don't think an F2 does it alone, as that will inevitably be really late.

I think his value is a late second to third rounder. So if we have made a commitment it doesn’t mean we pay overs. It’s up to the negotiation from clubs and player management to get a deal done. Melbourne are not obligated to pay overs.

Depend on what you consider as pay overs. Would a club even care about a 10 pick difference from 34 to 24 given they are still in the premiership window for the next few years and need player to strength the weakest part of the ground for the next few years, I honestly wouldn't care if the Crows was in similar situation.

Melbourne currently have 5,15,24 and 34. We’ll get another pick in the 20s maybe 30s for Grundy. We will also try and trade up the order as Jason Taylor always does. I can’t see crows not accepting 34 in the end. Yes all these pick will be pushed back.

Looking at the draft an upgrade of 47 to 34 should be about right for McAdam. Has no real value in the market.
Has far more value than your posting on anything Crows!

Why are Gold Coast giving up a pick for McAdam?

What a brilliantly dumb post.

Player is headhunted to go to a club. Bellend opposition supporter says he should be traded with a pick the club doesn't have in order to get a pick they don't want or need.

No disrespect, but don't go trying to get something if you don't want to pay for it.

I can't imagine that Shane's management want him going through the PSD, and I can't imagine they agreed to him publicly saying he wants to go to Melbourne if they thought you couldn't get a deal done.

34 might as well be 104, as they Crows can't use it.

He would immediately be the third or fourth best forward at Melbourne, so it would be ridiculous to lose him over a few draft positions.

Yet you want Adelaide to accept a pick they won't use?

This is such a bogus argument. Picks will be flipped into 2024 or consolidated to get higher in the draft this year. Just because Adelaide won’t use the pick at the draft doesn’t mean it has no value to them.

As with most AFL trades, the receiving team will only pay 80 cents in the dollar because McAdam in out of contract.

So he was wrong and Melbourne would use a pick sent back?
