I hope he's innocent, am not fussed if he's guilty (as long as the club cuts him loose), and as always amused by the desperate cheerleaders

You hope he's innocent.

So if he's found innocent of all the charges pending, you're happy for the club to keep him on the list?

Um Yes. And you are not?

I've made it abundantly clear in my previous posts that unless allegations of serious misconduct are proven (in this case in court), then the club has no grounds to terminate a players contract.

Unfortunately we seem to have a resident lynch mob who think an allegation is enough to cut a player. They've been calling for Yarran to be axed from the day the initial charges made the news. Natural justice is the term RTB used and it's reasonable for an employee to expect be treated fairly by their employer.

Um Yes. And you are not?

I think he is, he's just trying to suggest that I am not. Apparently pointing out the statistical likelihood of him being guilty and therefore a goner is enough to make some dingdongs think I hope he's guilty.

For some reason your feel the need to refer to people who suggest Yarran might be innocent as "desperate cheerleaders".

Makes it hard to accept that you're "not fussed if he's guilty". But if you're happy for the club to keep him if he's innocent, it seems that remarkably we actually agree.

We knew he had a history of being a violent criminal when we recruited him. Innocent until proven guilty for sure, but if you had to bet on it you'd have to say chances are he is going back to gaol.

Toughen up princess. Our board is unfortunately populated by people that reckon the club can do no wrong, and the only reason we haven't won a flag is because the RAND corporation, in conjunction with the saucer people and under the supervision of reverse vampires, is conspiring against us. Feel free to associate with them if you want.

You seem a little prone to name calling. You know, calling people "pet", "cheerleaders" and "princess". It really does make you look like a squeezer.

By the way I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist myself. Those kind of beliefs defy logic. But feel free to make whatever assumptions about me you like.

In case you haven't noticed I really don't rate your opinion. At all.

No problem, your or anyone's rating is utterly irrelevant. I often get on here to vent about how ****ed things are going when they are going ****ed and if like minded realists want to join in, all the better. The only people that really give me the shits are those that keep on insisting everything is great. Apart from this thread I can't recall a single one of your posts so if that's not you, all praise to ya

FFS if he is innocent great, if not its not a big deal for the club. Tragic for Shane and family though. He was a very late pick , played a handful of games and is going on 28. Not the end of the world player wise. . If he doesn't make it Langdon or one of the youngsters will get a gig.
Finally some sense!

Bad for Shane, meh for the club. Hopefully he is found innocent but if not we move on.

Yarran will not be playing another AFL game. You're kidding yourself if you think he will ... even if he is found innocent to the latest charges.

He is currently on personal leave because in today's modern politically correct world, that's about as much as Freo can do without copping backlash.

The question I have to all of you who say he is innocent until proven guilty ... then why isn't he currently training with the team?

I hope Freo learn from it. He should not have been recruited, but once they made that investment, letting him off so lightly for his further charges in June 2016 was very poor leadership by Freo and wreaked of denial ... like throwing more money in to a bad investment hoping it will come good. Yarran had come back from injury, played four or so WAFL league games, gets reported for striking, goes out drinking (apparently he claimed to not have had a drink since March), fails to obey a move on notice and then gets pinged for disorderly conduct. He pleaded guilty to both charges and Freo basically reward him with selection for a game in the seniors just 3 games after the incident.

He's had his chances and it hasn't worked out.

You may be right. He may not play another game.

Consider this scenario:
Yarran has a family fight. Things were said, and it came to blows. In some relationships, people try to drag the successful back down to their level. I've seen it happen. So after going to the police to get his family member in trouble, this family member raises an issue from before Yarran was drafted. It didn't happen that way, but this family member is trying to take him down, and a witness statement is all the police have.
The club is aware of this, and realises that the only way Yarran can get justice is for him to work out his problems with his family. This will involve a lot of work, and Yarran's focus needs to be on mending his family relationships. His future depends on it.

Now I have no idea if this scenario has any factual basis to it - I think that part of it is probably correct. But according to both Lyon and Mundy, Yarran has been given a training programme away from the club while he is on personal leave. The club is still supporting. And yes, there is also the element of distancing the club from the scandal.

But you know, innocent until proven guilty is an important moral principle. It's easy to accuse someone of anything. Best to wait a while before condemning. There are no prizes for being the first to throw a stone.

And the move-on charge in June this year was a joke. There's been long discussion on this thread and others of how police use racial profiling when conducting "random tests" and move-on notices are applied in a similar fashion. I have no doubt in the world that Fremantle placed almost no credence to that charge.

Yarran's performances in late 2016 were a bright spot in a dark year. I'm glad we got the chance to see him play so well. It will be an uphill battle for him to get back in the team. But if he is found innocent, then Yarran should be given the chance to try and force his way back in.

Or maybe we just wanted to give a player a chance after a fairly minor offence?

Those move on notices are applied about as consistently as our speeding laws.

Edit: What Clem said.

Innocent until proven guilty is totes overrated aye. Allegation is enough to pursecute people these days - the new world order is upon us - perhaps you and others who believe this shit should go live in the Philippines if you don't wanna waste time indulging in facts - read the link below, look at those images and tell me if it disturbs you what's happening over there, or if you're onboard with it. Sure, it's an extreme example of guilty without trial, but where do you draw the line.

Nobody on here is kidding themselves about Yarran's chances, but we respect the process and wait for facts before forming such strong opinions. There's no prize for calling it first. What's the hurry?

Yarran was spotted at subi fc during the week. Is trying to find out if delisted can he join for 2017.source Haggers

Ewwww does it always have to be Haggers rummaging through our garbage. That boof head makes my skin crawl.

As to the report, it may have some substance as Yarran tries to put his life back in order. But he will face consequences (if he did anything wrong that is) at either club. The charge at his time at Subi 'sounds' the more serious.

Surely when Yarran was drafted he would have been informed that he had to be squeaky clean ... far more so than the average fresh 18 year old draftee with no criminal record. Yet Yarran still managed to make choices in June 2016 which saw him reported for striking, then going out and getting drunk, receiving a move on notice, failing to move on, getting charged for disorderly conduct and then later pleading guilty to those charges ... and partially blaming the alcohol for his actions.
Attempts to dismiss those choices and actions as being a result of racial profiling and being minor offences equivalent of a speeding infringement is quite ridiculous.

I haven't even been discussing Yarran's latest charges, because I'm saying he had already done enough for Freo to have cut him from the list. These latest charges are just further proof that Yarran comes with far too much baggage ... even in your Utopian world where Yarran's latest charges are a result of conspiring family members ... it is still unwanted bad publicity for Fremantle and can only be negative to the culture of the club.

At the end of the day, his AFL career is done and Freo will be better off when he's not on their list.
