And here we are, three flags and twelve seasons later.

Was thinking earlier that I would love to see a photo of Burgoyne replacing the one we currently have of Mitchell on the right hand side of these forums, even if it were just for this weekend, but couldn't settle on which photo we should have. After seeing this again it's settled.

Any chance we can get the powers to be of Bigfooty to make this change?

I put his contribution towards the three-peat alongside Luke Hodge.

People ought to remember Burgoyne the next time they question the club taking risks, or "over paying" with an extra second round pick.

So do we know if he's going to hang up the boots the second he hits 400, or will he play out the year? Or something in between?

He's contracted for the year he should play out the year. If his on field impact as player/coach is not enough to play im AFL side he can play vfl and teach there.

He is employed by the club for this season so it's a bad look to walk out once reaching a target the club has helped him reach.

Being a champion of the club I'm sure he will continue to contribute to the afl side till the end of the year when we can give him a big send off.

No "retirement" announcement so far, so he's going to play out the year. Suspect there will be a few "managed" games, but if there isn't anyone to push him out, he should play. BUT this is not the week for that.

If we had to pay Port, for Shaun's contribution to our club.

I was given the inside word that Burgoyne had approached the club and wanted to play for Hawthorn. At the time, for memory, he had some knee problem, and the Hawks were looking to take a tall with out 1st pick.

When word got out that the Hawks were looking at taking Burgoyne instead, I recall a lot of people not all that pleased with the prospect of picking someone with a dicky knee. My comment back then was when the premier midfielder in the competition wants to play for your club, you don't question it, you find a way to make it happen.

To be honest, although I understood how good he was, he exceeded all hopes and expectations with his brilliance. I never expected him to reach 400 games, a wonderful effort by a wonderful player. He's been a credit to himself, his family, and to the club. It's been a great journey.

Watched the first of the 2014GF last night , I mean why not ?

His first quarter and half was as good as you will ever see in that game .
As good as we were he was exceptional.

He was just at such a high level and dependable in those big games .
Whenever there was chaos his clean hands and ability to find space was next level.
His kicking skill was top shelf.

I don't believe that there is a more iconic moment in Hawthorn history. It's as recognisable as the "Don't think. Do!" speech.

He's just a freaking legend. Now let's get the win for him.
