My comment back then was when the premier midfielder in the competition wants to play for your club, you don't question it
That is exactly what he was and as great as he has been for us, he was amazingly good when he was at PA. We have been so lucky to have him play for us and I hope that we can find another like him one day.

I come in peace -

just wanted to tip the hat to Silk in his 400th.

Quality player and quality bloke as much as it pains me to admit it. Been on the receiving end of his work more than once.

Well played Silk and finally good to see another respectable player in the 400 club. Hope you can get him a win in the game.

PS - And a little thanks could be given to Wellsy for facilitating the trade that got him to you blokes as well :p:p

When I think of Burgoyne I think of the times we were in trouble late in a game and seeing him make his way to the middle.

And then we were no longer in trouble. The guy made a career of winning football games by influencing or creating key moments.

I feel confident in saying that we will never see his like again. One of the greatest players of all time.

This, literally at the last second, he stepped up because Dildoro in Mordor thought he had a stumbling block for us. Well played wellsy.

And then the 2013 PF happens. Thanks Wellsy

Does anyone have the clip of the goal he kicked against the Swans while wearing the 67 guernsey?

It was such an amazing team lifter that night but it doesn't seem to be included in his highlights.

Well done Silk! I can't believe you're being shafted on a milestone again, last time it was Australia vs France in the World Cup, now COVID won't allow us to pack the place out.

They said your knees were shot when you left Port, but I think that was just the bitter taste in their mouths.

Champion.

@2.27 Enjoy!

Yep.

It was a bit of a shame though that the other #67 stole some of his thunder
But there could be only one winner on that night.

And it was the good guys.

When a player is universally loved - it tells you something about the players quality and character

In his prime the only times i ever saw Burgoyne "beaten" were in games against easy beats where Hawks were dominating. His ability when the going got tough to deliver down back, in the guts or up forward is almost unparalleled.

I also think his moniker of "silk" undersells his toughness as well.

My endearing memory will be pre-hawthorn when a young Burgoyne tore apart a midfield of Judd, Cousins and Kerr. That isn't done lightly
