Think it's important to revisit his re-signing last year

The deal will see Burgoyne don the brown and gold for the 12th consecutive year, while also taking on a part-time Indigenous advisory role in 2021.

As part of his role, the Hawks’ number nine will assist the club in the development and implementation of its Indigenous programs which focus on employment, education and health outcomes as the key pillars to engaging and empowering Indigenous communities.

Burgoyne will balance his roles as both a player and an advisor in 2021, with a view of transitioning completely into an off-field role with the Hawks after retirement.

Legend doesn't begin to cover someone like Shaun Burgoyne. Our best trade ever, a role model for everyone, a champion of inclusion and an absolute gem of a player. Very glad he's staying on in an Indigenous Advocacy role next year

One of the few players in history you could make a case of having AA level talent across all lines. Even more than that, he had the ability to change lines in the middle of a game and perform to that level in that role with no preparation.

I think that was ultimately what cost him multiple AA selections - where do you put him?

An absolute superstar.

The three-peat wouldn't have happened without him. He kicked arguably the most important goal in the modern history of the club

Was honored today before the main training session.

Had his wife and children with him in the rooms with him. Very long and loud applause by the playing group to Shaun at the end of his speech.

Being the true professional he is, he then came down and joined in the final main training session.

Personally was not impressed with the clubs decision to get Silk. Bung knees is not what you need for a player who plays mid and every other where around the ground. Wow, did I get that wrong!

A true leader and not just to the indigenous boys but to all the young men who joined the club.
