if shaw is gone this year, what does this mean for dane swan in terms of his want to play on post end of next season. I mean is shaw leaves, he will pretty much be the only member of the 'rat pack' remaining at the club. I hope that does not push him into considering not signing on, cause he is till in ripper form .
Oh no not the rat pack what will they ever do, they are doomed as people.

If Shaw does leave then these are the trades that i would like to see orchestrated with the clubs that could be interested, bearing in mind we may accept slight unders due to the club wanting him out.

Melbourne- Shaw for Sylvia and 3rd rounder. Sylvia is about the same age and is unfulfilled talent, in a better side and more structured environment his upside is massive, he would be that mid size Mid/HFF that can do some real damage in games. Yes he is a w***er but so is Heath so it's like for like:D.

Geelong- Hard one here, I would like Chapman but as a FA and not through a trade, maybe we could ask for Horlin Smith or Jesse Stringer and work out a swap of picks.

Sydney- I would like Jesse White but they would have to throw in a pick as well, Reid would be ideal but not going to happen. Luke Parker is another that i would love but we would have to throw in a really good pick as well, not going to happen.

North Melbourne- Daniel Currie and a First rounder would be my choice although North will not go for that, i dont see them as interested enough, and already have their sights on Betts and Dal Santo.
Maybe Sam Wright and a pick could do it .

I am not even going to look at your stats. I watched him play 2 full games and saw others on TV, including his excellent performance against Hawthorn where he was Melbourne's best player.

Classic.

Not hard to be best in Melbourne this year, albeit only for a game.

Best game 21 disposals V Hawks, but of the 12 games he played this year he had 10 or less disposals in 9 of them. And averaged a goal a game without ruck duties.

Believe what you like about Dawes. You are obviously another poster who believes Buckley can do no wrong.

My opinion is supported by facts.
Until your mysterious TV clips turns up its pretty clear Dawes chose to leave.

Sadly I rate the guy, and would have prefer he showed some resolve, and proved Bucks wrong.
He's got ability and will do well at Melb., with Hogan and a decent mid field to feed both of them.

Dawes was played out of position last year due to necessity and he suffered from it. I didn't like the fact he left, either. Was one of my favourite players since he got the most out of his limited ability. Still, if we assume that Dawes stayed to play his natural role, we'd be lining him up against Reid, not Lynch. And Reid the forward is far superior to Dawes the forward. That is fact.

As for the actual topic, I really hate the idea of Heater leaving. With Toovey to come back and another year into Ramsay and even Yagmoor, Heater should be given a chance to play as a back flanker/winger as opposed to a defender on the last line of defence. He will be much more damaging and less of a liability once Toovey returns to take the deeper lockdown role.

Did you see Dawes (on TV) when he left the Westpac centre after his post season review with Bucks?
Not a happy boy, nearly slammed the car door on journos microphone.
He was very very pissed off......next day....Dawes suddenly looking for other opportunities.....he was given his marching orders, no doubt.

Would be happy to give stringer away for shaw, he is a tough inside young mid, doubt very much the club would let horlin smith go thought

Cant see us dealing with the Cats. Might be a three way with GWS as Adams looks to be the best option for us.

Currently I'm in Florida, so all I'm really gretting news wise is the afl website now, I used to be listening to sen non stop back home. Can someone please tell me why on earth collingwood are moving on an AA quality running hb flanker? Issues with the coach? Disgruntled about something?
If it's attitude I would have thought collingwood is more then capable of fixing it internally

I have never read so much about Dawes when its Shaw thread.

On Dawes, what is the problem how he went. He needed to go.

On Shaw, yep I love all the Shaw's but has been, is and will always be a loose cannon who gives you more grief than great moments.

Couldn't give a rats about Dawes, so lets get back on topic.

Not a bad little rundown Axe. Wouldnt look at dealing with Melbourne if that was the deal on offer. Sylvia has zero currency as an unrestricted free agent. The only trade id do with them is a 3rd rounder for him, to not dilute the compensation we'd receive for losing Shaw. Seeing as we appear to have reached our w***** quota already, i dont think he's on the cards.

Cats wont give us anything we want i.e Duncan, Christensen etc. Might be able to snare their first rounder.

Swans is probably where we can get the most bang for our buck. Shaw and our 2nd rounder for White and their first rounder wouldnt be a bad deal.

If north want him, i want Cunnington in return. Otherwise their players dont interest me.

Dawes was played at full forward and did not leave the 50m arc with Melbourne. That explains his low stats count.

I always respected your opinion until recently. Now I just see you as pushing your own Buck's barrow. I don't believe you truly watched Dawes play in 2013. You just want to believe what you want to believe, and don't want facts to get in the way of your opinions. I was prepared to back Buckley unconditionally, but posters like you with their blind Buckley faith and belief are increasingly pushing me into the Buckley doubters group. Next you may find me backing THATSGOLD because I am tiring of the arrogance of so many of the Buckley aficionados.

I'm not interested, or would prefer not to give Shaw to anyone who finished above us.

For one thing I think we can get better returns from GWS, and secondly we don't want to strengthen those above us in the short term.

I still think pick 9 for Shaw or possibly Adams would be correct weight.

With North Melbourne, Cunnington will be a required player. He is part of their midfield unit. Won't be for sale.

I'd target Kieran Harper potentially or maybe even Robbie Tarrant as he is supposedly on the trade table.

Their first pick would be ideal however.
